DLT would most likely be most affordable. The Shaman is a big knife. Red scales plus M390 for just under $200 and I'd need to talk to the wifey for funds...

I'll take another 4v Shaman from Fradon Lock with Marbled CF. Not my first choice for handle material on that knife but it would do.

FYI,

I'm working on a new design based on a modified Shaman pattern so I pulled out all of the original drawings. The first drawing of the Shaman was dated December 17, 2014. That can give you an idea of how long I work on some of these creations.

sal
[Edited to add: quoted Sal from the "Shaman Cru-Wear sprint run release?" thread]

I wonder what this might be-- maybe a backlock? :spyder:

... or? Bigger? Smaller?

It will be interesting to see what is next in the Native family.

I expressed the same hope for a backlock-Shaman (or more generally for EACH member of the "Native family" (Lil Native, Native 5, Shaman, Chief) coming in BOTH a comp. lock and backlock version) in the "Shaman cruwear sprint run release" thread, where you quoted Sal from... :D (see also here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=84760 )
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Amen, I’d love a native 5 but I don’t like back locks at all. Really curious to hear from some of you guys what you prefer about them, I don’t think my preference will change but I might learn something!

I think Sal pretty much said a backlock Shaman wasn't really possible without major mods to the design (in the cruwear shaman thread), so I'm guessing that's not what's in the works atm. Sorry, guys. :( My totally uninformed guess would be a Shaman fixed blade, or maybe just something entirely new. A push button comp lock Shaman would also be excellent, imo.

I would be more inclined to guess a Shaman with a modified blade shape. Wharncliffe Shaman maybe.

Apologies for the bump, this threads is for Sal’s casual bombshells, not Lance’s idle musings.

There´s been a lot of discussion about the perceived advantages and disadvantages of lockbacks on this forum lately, but I can see that you joined just a quite short time ago.
I´d gladly give you my (very positive) opinion on backlocks, but rather NOT in this "bombshell"-thread. You might want to start a dedicated thread asking your question?

A push button comp lock would be incredible... great solution to the ‘nub’ issue, which is probably the only thing I don’t like about an otherwise amazing knife.

Bombshells > idle musings

Please consider starting a new thread for chatter/musings and leave this thread for Sal's bombshells.

S45VN is a steel that was developed by one of their metallurgists (Frank) as an improvement to S35VN. More incremental than revolutionary, but it did test well and we're working with it.
