We always appreciate input. I can speak with the maker about a Perrin Bowie proto in micarta. These are tough times and they might be interested in a short run. We probably wouldn't want to make more than 300-400.

Hard to imagine who at Spyderco might tell you that? Must have been a misunderstanding.

Usually we have about 20 - 25 models "in-the-works" at any given time. They might be in engineering, or being prototyped, or being tooled, or being made in production.

All of the new models require new engineering and new tooling. Eric and I work on every model ourselves. At this time, we are working on 2010 models and some 2011 models.

I would suggest that there is a great deal involved in coming out with a new model, even if it's a variant. I would also suggest that not too many knife companies are doing more in the way of new models or variants than we are.

News on an upcoming G-10 Native 4:

We're planning G-10 versions of the USA made NAtive4. The model is now in engineering. We're doing alot of research on possible ways to refine the lock interface.

Once nailed down, there will be US versions in many variations.

Hi Donovan,

The goal of the Slipit line is to try to create a simple, effective, safe, useful folding knife that is socially friendly, politically correct and legal in most any situation. They are "Clip-carry, One-hand-open, Non-locking folders", although some of the smaller versions may not have clips. (bug, honeybee and grasshopper).

It began with the "UK Pen Knife" which was developed with the help of the UK knife forum called "British Blades". (A great bunch of blokes but a bit daft ), of which there are currently a number of variations.

Our next move is to offer a light weight (FRN) UK, (We are thinkng about calling the FRN version a "US Pocket Knife" rather than a "UK Pen Knife". (USPK). The UK version being higher line in G-10, carbon fiber and titanium.

I'm carrying one of the USPK's today with maroon scales. We also have blue and gray. (Plus an orange version in a serrated "Rescue" style sheepfoot). MSRP is $59.95. Steel is GIN-1.

I just got an early TiMil RIL today. The clip is a silver Military clip. the first run will be right hand tip down and all Titan. CPM-S30V. Follow up variations will be possible. We'd like to get the first run down before we begin making changes.

We probably won't be shipping for a couple of months. We have quite a few new models hitting the streets last month and this month.

Seems like this year the LBK:s are the ones to get.. ladybug hawkbill, and now these other, smaller Spydies. Ahhh and... hope we get a bug-sized hawkbill too :D :D
