Hi gang,
I'm a fairly new poster and I need some advice --
I need to buy a sharpening system for my 2 Spydercos (Endura and Delica, both fully serrated) and various kitchen knives, etc.
Any thoughts about the Sharpmaker 204? Money is fairly tight at my household, so I need to make a good decision.
Also, my local Wal-mart has a Lansky-type "clamp" sharpening system (made, I believe by Smith's of Arkansas) for just $20. I almost left my money with Mr. Sam this morning, but I thought I'd ask for your advice first.

C-204 Tri-Angle Sharpmaker works great!
I think its the best sharpening system available. For a good low price try www.tiac.net, Discount Knives via the internet, their service is sometimes slow, but their prices are low.

I still have a Lansky type system (Gatco) but I haven't used it since I got my Sharpmaker 204. I found the angles of the clamp system to be inconsistent as they are affected by the width of the blade and the clamps don't fit securely on knives with a distal taper i.e. Calypso Jr. Also the clamps are time consuming as they have to be moved on longer blades. OTOH the 204 gives consistent results on all blades, thick or thin, long or short, is quick to set up and most importantly is fun to use <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>. It may be more expensive but it is a lifetime investment. Just my AUS$0.384 <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>.

I would recommend Bayou LaFourche as a source. The price is $.03 different than Discount Knives, and extremely good service is available from Roger and his crew. Prompt shipping. Any time am looking for low price, I go to BL or to shootist16, who also sells knives. Don't know if Dennis carries sharpeners or not.
