We wanted to let you all know (and hope that you'll share this info) that our World Trade Center Project will be coming to an end on August 31, 2005. If you know of anyone interested in purchasing the WTC knife, now is the time to participate. As you all know, this is for a great cause and we would love to see the project come to a close surpassing all of our hopes for it's success.

Thank you in advance for anything you can do to help spread the word!

There are three ways to place an order...

1) Order directly from this site

2) Call us at 800/525-7770 x 129

3) Call SFO at 800/828-1925 x 3

What will happen to the remaining knives?

Senate,
Thank you for your question.

We are hoping there will not be any remaining knives. We'll make that decision when the time comes if we have to. If that decision has to be made, we'll let everyone know what it is.

BTT,
Just ordered another. The website shows it's sold out, It's not. All I had to do was call. I wouldn't wait too long.

This one is not a plain D'allara Copilot. It's a special version with a metal insert made out of a slab of steel from WTC #1. The insert depicts the skyline of NY before 9/11. The piece of steel was removed with the permission of the NYPD and it was filmed by the NYPD. Then the twisted slab was taken to a firm who cut out the skyline. This insert was put into a specially designed handle scales and the mold was destroyed after manufacturing. There was one knife made for every victim of the 9/11 attacks in NY. The knives were serial numbered and the profit went to the NYPD and FDNY orphans fund. Although the D'Allara is basically the same knife, the insert and special handles make this a very special knife. Mine is in pristine condition sitting in it's engraved presentation box, it was never opened or used, as this is a commerative knife.

Finding this knife on the 2 hand market will be very hard and expensive. Most :spyder: collectors will never part of it .

Good question, Boxer!

I would like to know the answer on this question as well, if possible. Were there any WTC knives left over that had to be destroyed? I was told when I ordered my knife at 4:30 P.M., CST on 8/31/05, I was told that I got the last one, #1515, but I don't believe they weren't issued sequentially. So, it would be very interesting to hear what actually ended up happening from someone.

As a side note, Jim's post made me think a bit about the knife and it's relativity to the attack, and how each knife is representative of a life lost. I often wonder who would be the person represented by my knife's number, and how that person's family is faring since the incident. Well, allow me to say that I wish the best for their soul and their family, as well as every other victim of that fateful event, and I hope that they are all at peace. I also wonder how much money was raised from the knives' sale and hope that it all was a successful endeavor on all counts.

Thanks for listening, I felt I had to say something.

Of course the #is virtual, but there are official lists online of the people declared deceased in the 9/11 attack. Iirc #1 was the FDNY Chaplain who got a heart attack in the lobby of the #2 tower. Of course once the buildings collapsed the counts went obsolete. Technically it should be possible to put a name and face on your # but i don't know if people are willing to do it.

Jim,

I agree that it may not be the most appropriate thing to do, which is why I think it's enough to show the desire to respectfully do so, rather than actually putting a name to a number. I'm sure that even if someone were to do so in the most respectful way possible, somebody's sensibilities would be offended, for sure. I think I'll just think about it instead. It's too heavy to think about too often.

It's the thought that counts, Co-Pilot. Mine just hit my last month's credit card statement, so I am still paying for it... It's worth it, though.

I ordered mine in March and I had the possibility to pick a number of my choice in the remaining numbers. it was then engraved and sent.
