Sal, as an added thought, would a slight alteration to the Cricket handle mold be possible?

More specifically, I think part of the attraction of the Aluminum handled Cricket (aside from the material) is the slick, elegant look of the perfectly smooth handles. Could Spyderco possibly make this sprint run without the Volcano grip on the logo side of the handle?

I know the idea of the volcano is added grip, but when compared to aluminum or stainless steel, even the slight texture to the clip side of the Cricket FRN is MUCH steadier and more sure in the hand.

What do you all think? Smooth handles on the Cricket? (Assuming, of course, it can be done)

I like Michaels idea about a smooth handle and beef up the liner lock like on the Aluminum version.

My color choices are:
Forest Green
Purple
Pink (My daughters would love them) <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

You know, if you want smooth FRN handles, it can be done when you are bored.
I use green scotch bright pads at work, and clean(I am the maintenance guy at Burger King). I have scratched up my ladybug blade cutting them apart. I happened to hit the handle on one, and now have a less pronouced grip on the one side. I think that if you did it enough, you could smooth out the handles. (or just put a sanding disk on the dremel and do it...)

We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

Taking out the texture would not be possible. Although, as mentioned, you could hand sand them down.

BTW red is for trainers only. sorry.

Sal, What would it take to get a Sprint run of the original aluminum handle Cricket?

Of all the knives I carry this is the one that gets the most interest. Even my non-knife friend like it!

Also, you can stand it up on its back spine and gently spin it. Great distraction in those boring meetings as it moves from one person to the next trying to spin it. Can't do that with my FRN model.

Love them Crickets!! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Hi Sharp. It would take 1200 pices. Too many for a forum to digest.

1200 pieces? Whoa!

Actually, that really seems to be a small number in the grand scheme of the retail world- however, since about ten of us asked for it specifically, that's a lot of overhead to tie up with 1190 knives... ;D

Sal- so, what are the chances of a colored FRN sprint run, and what colors seem to be in the running?

My UNOFFICIAL count of the colors so far:

BLUE 12 (1 Navy Blue, 1 Baby Blue)

GREEN 10 (1 Dark Green, 1 Forest Green)

PURPLE 5

OLIVE 3

GREY 3

TAN 2

ORANGE 2

RED 1

PINK 1

Darn... I was hoping Olive and Tan would have had more popularity... <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Here's another suggestion- maybe something no one else may have considered (for handle colors):

WHITE? <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
