Remote Release

What did people think of the Remote Release. I have one and think it is possibly one of the best knives I have ever owned. The clip is very handy and paired with the incredible blade it is nearly unbeatable. One complaint however, it might be a more effective blade if it had only half serration and half straight. Maybe Spyderco should consider a remake.

I keep one clipped to my car keys. A great knife or emergencies, or anything else that comes along.

I have been thinking about getting a Remote Release, but can't decide. Would you choose it over a Calypso Jr.?(my other choice)

I have both and for me the decision would be easy. The Remote Release is useful in certain situations but I couldn't use it for EDC, too obvious. OTOH there really is no other knife from any manufacturer than can compare with the Calypso Jr. for sheer cutting efficiency. The combination of the flat ground blade, excellent edge geometry and VG10 steel create a knife which cuts like a laser. Add a handle with great ergonomics and tip-down and you have the ultimate piece for unobtrusive EDC. Get one, you won't regret it <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>.

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow, in Australia it's tomorrow already.

I tried to sell my wife on the Calypso Jr. Seemed perfect to me. She ended up taking the Remote Release instead. She could not get used to touching any part of the metal of the blade with any part of her hand, and the RR has a lot of handle to grab
