Suggestion for your Santoku Kitchen Knife

#1

Post by Fisher of Men »

Hey Sal, Eric, or whomever reads this :D

I have a suggestion for your Santoku kitchen knife. I think there should be a Spyder-Hole in the blade close to the handle. See the pics below. The first pic is your original knife. The second is one that I added a hole too. I think this is a good idea for a couple reasons.

  • When you are cutting on a cutting board most often you place one hand on the handle and the other one on the top of the blade and rock it back and forth and also when you chop stuff. The hole would help because you can sort of put your thumb and index finger at the hole and it feels more comfortable to use.
  • It looks better in my opinion :)
  • You can use the hole to hang it on the wall.

Here are the Pics:

Looks cool...but I don't think it's practical...I like my Santoku just the way they made it...nice pics though...Doc

I'd be happy with our without the hole on the kitchen series. I suppose the hole is nice just to have, since all the folders do. :)

nah not dumb at all, just not to my taste. I find it gives the knive a cleaver-ish look, which I don't particularly like in this case.
but it definitly looks more Spyderco with a hole in it!

Different distinctions

You know "Fisher of Men" I have thought about this same deal myself. I think they do the fixed blades different to make a "trademark type" of distinction between their folders & fixed blades. Although I do think they need to do something special to their fixed blades as well to earmark them. Although I have no idea what that might be. Something to talk about I guess. :) JD :spyder: 'O

I like it. I'm not sure I'd use it as you describe, but I just expect to see a hole in a Spyderco!

What about a small hole where the "o" is in Spyderco?
