Where are the Viele's?

#1

Post by Yoshihama »

I was just looking through the catalogue, and I'm not finding any information about the Howard Viele collaborations. I bought the first Viele about a year and a half ago, because I thought it was one the most beautiful knives I'd seen. I came by the site to check out the information on it, and the new smaller Viele 2, but there's nothing here. :(

The original viele has been discontinued quite some time ago. Way before the current website, which probably is the main reason you won't any pics or info on this piece.

Recently my dad picked up a classic Viele (pe, vg-10, eccentric pivot) and asked me to give it a workout...ok I made him! :p

It's a very cool piece, a lefty doesn't even need access to the hole, just use the thumb serrations on the part of the tang that protrudes beyond the handle. works like a charm without flicking the knife too hard.

I plan to make some pics of it and put it on my site. But the viele isn't all good looks, I found it to be surprisingly functional.

New Graham has the Viele II and there's already some showing up on Ebay.

Cheers,
