Sprint Run of Calypso Jrs?
I for one love the knife.A coloured handle even better.

I have to agree with the comments about the name Calypso and the fact that it would be hard for people that are not infatuated with knives to try to sift the differences between the likes of the Calypso Jr., Standard, Rookie and Delica. I started off buying knives when I was six years old (Case yellow trapper), then moved up to a Buck 112 when I was 17. These satisfied all of my desires until I bought my my Spyderedge Standard during a close-out at a Henckels store in 1988. That kept me busy until 1998 when I saw my first tanto blade design in the Edge catalog. Since then, I have bought over 20 knives and but really use only my Dragonfly and a Benchmade Mini-Stryker. By contrast, my brother-in-law who is in construction is perfectly satisfied with an Endura that he found on a construction site and would never have thought to look for another until he lost that one.
To get back to the naming business, my opinion is that Calypso doesn't seem as purposeful as most of the other names in the line nor does it conjure up images that suggest any memorable metaphorical qualities about the knife itself, like the Cricket or Dragofly.
I know this post is a long one, but the whole topic has gotten pretty long itself.

Should have said this in the first post, but would think that using the orange for the safety knives, the red, the blue, and maybe a couple more colors could be done semi-easily. Spyderco uses all those colors now.
Then again, I have no idea how the molded plastic business works -- like what kind of quantities one is talking about, etc. I'm sure the molds have to be thoroughly cleaned to change from one color to another. However, I think neon orange handles, red handles, maybe a neon yellow too, and the brightest blue that could be found would have women buying them by the droves, and the more lighthearted knife knuts doing the same.
I don't know, but when I hear the word Calypso, I think of Jamaican parties, not funereal colors.

Color! That would be a very good way to get the calypso into hands that would like it as much as we do

Last week attended small knife show. One table was selling old issues of knife magazines. Very cheap, but not wanting to lug around a lot of weight for hours, and because back was hurting too much to haul a huge pile of mags to car, bought only 10. Well, 5 at first -- $1 -- and then the last 5 left before I left the show.
One of them is a 1992 issue of Knives Illustrated. Lo and behold, what did I come upon, but an ad for Ladybugs -- IN 6 COLORS! Red, pink, yellow, orange, black, and either dark green or blue.
I still think that if the Calypso Jr. were offered in those colors and/or others, that sales might be good. Hint, hint!

Multi colored FRN handle ? What a great idea!!! Fits right in with the calypso "party" image. For
a knife that doesn't seem to sell to well it sure has a hard core following. The color(s) might just be
daring and inventive enough to really launch sales on this knife. After all isn't that how spyderco set
the knife world on it's ear years ago? Colors ......Oh Yes!!!!!
