Do you guys think that design would work if it was made at say 3 1/4" closed, for those of us that like a smaller size knife?
Absolutely, here are some pictures of the original 3 prototypes. The middle one is the production model. I believe Sal's wife carries the smallest one.
The other photos are of the knife of my dreams :D .

Thanks Clay, that one looks quite a bit like the one I saw at the NYCKS. Delivery of the LH one I ordered after looking at it is still about 9 months off and sonagrams don't work for knives :D so I can't post pics of mine yet.Clay Kesting wrote:Here's another custom in green G10 (I think).

You can count me as a card carrying member of the Lum fan club.
I saw the picture of the web engraved Lum in the back of the 25th aniversary catalog and had to have it. Dropped my green PE off at SFO
and a couple of weeks later this is what came back.

Geeeeez Clay -
Your pix are awesome.....I wanna be a member of Chinese Lum Club too  The engraved spidey scales are not my cup of tea compared to the possibility of customs/sprint run with G-10 or micarta. Well, your pix are fantastic. You've got us alllll drooling :p and stuff. How about one with ivory paper micarta and a black blade....or steel blue canvas micarta.
Who did the G-10 custom? Beautiful job - love the gradient on the scale edges.
The other day I found myself in a jam and had to ! !GULP! ! cut through some steel wire with mine and it was a PE....glad to say the edge came right back, and a lot faster than I thought it was going to. Still I was mad at myself. I have a beater Native which lives on the floor of the truck, it has a busted tip & I usually use it for "those kinds" of emergencies...

Well, I have to add my two cents… I love the Lum Chinese. It is my favorite spidie so far. The bad thing (or good thing depending on how you look at it) is I use mine everyday at work and it is staring to wear out! I is unfortunate such a great knife was discontinued. I don’t have the heart to us the blue one I have… I hope Spyderco makes more soon… (that is a hint!)
All my favorite spidies are discontinued! I am still looking for a Tim Zowada (sp?).
