I seriously believe that a Spydercard2 half the size of the original would get out of the card slots faster and keep the weight down. This could be a good and economical solutions. Think about it, guys!

This could be great but don't you think that a 3,5" blade would be more useful and would still fit in your wallet!

Anyway, I will buy it if it came to production!

Thanks for watching and have a great weekend.

Hi Alex,

The Akimbo is about 95% of a knife design that I've been thinking about for some months for submission to Peter J. Similarly, I was thinking of a 3.25" blade, though a high sabre grind rather than the high-hollow you've done - to get most of the performance of full-flat but with some eye appeal.

I was debating a choil in the guard - it would work either way.

I won't bother submitting a design since you are already on it.

Spyder (Business) Card?

#44

Post by Gibsoniam »

Alex,

With the ratio of the sides on your design, it looks like it might be about the size of a business card, rather than the more box-ish credit cards.

I've been debating tracking down a Spydercard for some time, but the thickness and weight keep forcing me to put it off. Now, if something in high grade steel with ultralight handles and a bit more functional in size were to come along, I might just have to buy one for everybody I know, and two for me! :D

Great design, maybe someday it will make it off the computer and into my wallet!!! :D

Not ugly at all. I think that Akimbo would be a winner as long as its kept thin, with a rounded choil for comfort. How about an optional deep carry pocket clip?

Hey Nicky, I don't mean half the size all over...just the...I suppose you call that width...to be half the size of the older one. The OAL lenght and thinkness would remain the same as the older one. In any case, I still like it! Maybe drill holes in the handle (a-la ATR) for weight rediction too.

Alex,
I really like your creations; they show imagination and understanding. Your presentation artwork is excellent as we have come to expect. I really believe that a large part multi-tasking with any knife depends on the width of the handle at the index finger location. Your designs also seem to exhibt that preferrence. Very cool stuff...Take Care...Ed

Boy that's going way back.

What's funny is, when he did the Junior I immediately wanted a wharnie version and made this mockup. I had never seen this thread as it was 5 years before I joined.

That Wharnie version looks better than the original.

This is an interesting story.
And it looks really good. Don't you have a SE version?
