New forum loading slow

#1

Post by Concord_Bob »

Is anyone else having trouble with the new forum loading slowly? I like the new look, but it is really slow. I am hoping that this is just some setting on IE that I need to tweak.

If the 'slower' people could provide a couple details about their system -- operating system version, browser version -- we can see whether there's a pattern that indicates a problem. Thanks.

My browsing is also slow, my system XP with SP2 installed recently, perhaps a microsoft 'safety' feature that needs to be switched off? but which?

I'm running XP and the SP2 download, running pretty quick. Maybe your service provider is just busy at the time you where on? ;)

I'm running XP home, SP1, intel 1.7M 1GB ram Nvidia 64MB video. My throughput right now is 1.5Mbs.

It is loading real slow and it's slow to scroll.

Ok, I just installed Firefox and it is loading like greased lightning. Just as I thought, some screwy IE setting needs to be tweaked.

I have a Mac here, System X, I use netscape nav. 7, DSL connection
Could be that my brain just slowed down though....you know.....beer....

My biggest problem here is not really the speed but the fact I can't click in the text to edit the typos that I do here and there. I think it's a browser problem but though I should let you know.

That one is a surprise; I'm using OS X (10.3.5) and Firefox (1.0PR) to post this, and I am able to click and edit anywhere in the text box as I type this. How does it (fail to) work for you?
