Just got my Persian back from Ron (sc_rebel1957), forced myself to stop fondling it long enough to take some pictures. In addition to the obvious stag scales and traction grooves on the ramp, the thumbhole has been enlarged a bit and chamfered, and the liners "swiss cheesed". Looks great, feels even better. Super job Ron!

I'm glad you like it Paul <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>, IMO it's the best looking knife I've done so far, I'm slowly getting my work out for my customers, meanwhile I'm not taking any new orders until I catch up.
I loved working with the Persian, the liners are attached to the back strap using blind screws, and the pins are not just decrotive.
The hardest part was making the bone scales fit those curved bolters.
For some reason this gave the Persian a different feel, almost like it was made for your hand.

Definite WOw Factor ! Great idea and beautiful execuetion . I hope the Rebel announces when he will take new orders I have some Spyderco projects for him and time waiting for a return is not a problem . I sent an email concerning a project and never got a reply . Thanks for the pics Deacon , do you plan to pocket or go sheath with the Persian ? Noticed the clip is gone , seems rather large to float in pocket .

Ron, like it? I flat out love it! I'm glad you enjoyed working on it, I really love the results of your labor and your superb craftsmanship.
From the first time I handled the Schempp Persian I was impressed by the way it felt in my hand. In fact, I liked it so much I was almost hesitant to try to bring one closer to my personal ideal. Glad I did, beacause I agree with you that the bone makes it feel even better. Think this is partly because the porosity of natural material gives it a more "tactile" feel than plastic, but more importantly because you made the scales both slightly thicker than the originals and slightly tapered, so the butt end is thicker than the front. I find the grooved ramp also helps, at least when using a grip where it can be utilized. The larger thumb hole may have been gilding the lily a bit, had no real problem with the original size, but with my lousy hands I always figure the larger the target the less chance I'll miss.
Chad, yep, finally get to hold one of my "dream spydies".
Allen, I'll leave the question of cost for Ron to answer and will only say that I expect I'll have to pay a good deal more for my next one.
BigDog, I carry it loose in my left rear pocket. Carried it that way before the mods too, found it rode just fine.
