You know, if you look at it right, it *does* kind of look like a crocodile though!

It is my understanding that the person responsible for this piece was convinced to cease production at the insistance of Spyderco because of the blatent mis-appropriation of the Spyder-hole, not to mention the poor quality. I have a couple that I am using for photos for an article that I am working on regarding copying in the knife industry. They are very heavy with cast handles and unknown steel.

Did you buy this piece sight unseen? Are those little "Spyderco" Trademark bugs?

Not to offend, but is this one of those dialex jobs?

Anybody that has ever handled a Spyderco would not be fooled by this knife. It is rougher than most of the $3 Delica copies that flood the swap meets and gas stations. The problem is that there will always be unscrupulous sellers and uneducated buyers. Since the Spyder hole is a trademark that is unique to Spyderco and those few that are licensed to use it, the problem of someone seeing this knife and having a negative association with knives with round holes presents a problem. And last but not least, Sal thought up the idea of a hole, refined it, trademarked it, etc. This guy saw Sal's design and copied it onto a low-buck folder. It is a intellectual property rip-off. All of the examples that I have seen have not had any "Spyderco" markings, just the hole.

It's a shame when rip offs get so ugly!

If people are having difficulties overcoming the looks of real spydies, then these monstrosities won't make it any easier!

I don't think you can spend money on these. They are so ugly, rough, and heavy people pay you to tow them away. A Strider folder this is not.

Now come on guys, did you really think I'd waste my funds on something like this?!?

I saw this "knife" on a swedish E-bay site and thought it would be subject for a good laugh.

I have heard that custom makers can use the Spyderco hole for a specified dollar amount as long as they don't make more than a certain number like 100 or so, but hopefully this guy ceases production soon. That is one ugly knife.
