Best Spyderco for a cop?
Best Spyderco for a cop?
Which folding Spyderco would be best suited for a LEO? I am considering a Police model, a aluminium handled ATR, a Military or a Para-military. Any advise?

All of them are **** fine knives and it's difficult to say one is better than other. However, I'd choose the Police, by definition <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
BTW, the ATR is Ti or SS, not aluminium.

IMHO the ENDURA !
Reasons:
1.Cops jump around alot and lose stuff.(cheaper to replace).
2.Smaller profile when sitting the patrol car(easier on the jimmies).
3.Cops are hard users, beat it up and replace as needed....
4.Very Stabby and very sharp,if impounded by prosecutor who cares...

I carry a Gunting on duty in uniform, and all the rest of the time too, for that matter. I can open the Gunting kinetically using any number of items on my duty belt to snag the ramp, and if kneeling or squatting, the heel of a boot works well. The features of the Gunting that enhance its use as a pressure point and impact weapon are also appreciated. The Gunting is not the only knife I have with me on duty, and it is good to have a less expensive knife handy to minimize the damage and wear caused by common utility tasks. The Rescue and Assist models are good for this, and what I keep with me at work. The Endura and Delica are also excellent choices.

While I'm not in law enforcement, I think it depends on the situation. For a practical EDC, I carry the Military most.
However, I had the opportunity to witness a trained under-cover officer use a Civilian to gain control of an out of hand individual. While I never carry a Civilian - one look and a jury's going to convict me, I believe that, in the hands of a properly trained under cover-cover officer this knife would be an excellent less than lethal choice for carry
One way or the other, you pay for your tools!

I've carried the same Police Model every working day since 1989... I've never come close to losing it... Of course I don't lend it to anyone either! The only time I don't carry the Police on duty is when I'm on motorcycle patrol- For that I have a all-stainless Endura in my right boot.
Pick what feels right to you. Your choices are all good knives.
