OT - Ghosts

Post by vampyrewolf »

Ok, gonna sound a little nuts here... bear with me. I already know I'm crazy, don't bother reafirming it.

My niece is seeing ghosts in thier house. She's been seeing them since we got the house in febuary and they moved in(previous owners never said anything about it).

[from what she's said lately]

Sees a "black man" and a "white boy". The "black man" has no defining features, other than looking like a farmer(overalls and a long sleeve shirt). She hasn't said what the "boy" wears yet. Thus far the "black man" stands about 2 feet in from her door, and doesn't leave the room. "He" does turn(she slept in my sisters room tuesday and woke up to "him" looking across the hall at her). The "boy" acts like "he" wants a friend and comes towards her and stops about a foot away. She reached out to give "him" a hug and went right through "him"(she freaked out for a full day about this when it happened first). Has both my sister's and her own baptismal crosses in the room.

She won't play in her room alone... she won't go to sleep in her room... if you get her to sleep and put her in her bed she wakes up within an hour screaming "the black man is in my room again". She woke up after 2hrs on my sisters floor on tuesday. Spent wednesday night downstairs on the floor without any problems.

My sister gets a "wierd electric shock" running through her body when she gets on the 4th or 5th step going into the basement.

None of the other family members have experienced anything. I have a nap in my niece's bed and slept in it 2 weeks ago, nothing.

...

SO....

any ideas on it? She's looking at getting the catholic priest in town to bless her house. We're taking the dog out there this weekend to see how she reacts(first time taking the dog in there).

Seeing ghosts, to me, is not crazy. Not to sound hokey or anything, but I've actually seen one; I saw my father-in-law standing back the hallway of his house the night he died...the wierd thing was that I saw him a few hours AFTER he'd passed away.

Other wierd things happened within a few days of his passing. Definitely something to it.

Heres a true story of my sightings.
We moved in my parents house witch was my great grandparents before that.My mother and I was at my grandmothers,my house now, when we had the phone hooked up.She had me walk back home so she could call to see if the line was working.I walked in and the phone was ringing.I awnsered it and someone asked to speak to Doc,I said Doc who(not thinking)and they said Doc Suddath. It then hit me that that is my Great Grandfather who passed away just before I was born.I told the person that he had died before I was born but just as I said died the phone went dead.I hung it up and it rang again(Scareing the crap out of me)after about 4 or 5 rings I awnsered it but it was my mom this time.
In my house now that was my grand parants my daughter and I was alone in the house and she came up to me and said grand ma,I looked down the hall thinking my mom came in but no one.I asked her where and she pointed to nothing. She was maybe 2 or 3 and had just started talking.I like to think that she really was seeing my grandmothers ghost but I can never be sure.

Old folk remedy- take some bowls of salt, and place them under the bedposts. Discourages "visits".

I never believed in such things until I bought my first house back in 1994.
I was trying to decide on this major purchase & could not sleep. Since I was living less than I mile away, I went over to look at the house to think about it. The realtor had left a light on inside. While looking at the house I saw a figure pass in front of the light creating a shadow in the window. It was about 11 PM & the house was locked with one of those "special" realtor locks on the door. This lock allows only other realtors to get in to show the house. Because of this I knew the house was empty.
Anyway I had been told that the house was for sale because the previous owner, an elderly lady had died. I was thinking the house was haunted, but purchased it anyway because it was the best house I had seen in my real estate search. Besides I didn't really believe in Ghost at the time.

Well.... in the next year or so, on the advise of a Para-normal scientist from UCLA, I actually compiled a VERY long list of weird things that happened in that house. (too long to list here) Then one day I learned that one of the three daughters whom I had purchased the house from died. About that same time everything weird just stopped. It was as if the daughter had came back to the house, got her Mom & said why hang out here? Come on let's go!

Years later when my own Mom died, weird things started happening again.

I had several of my Mom's things in the house & they would fall in the middle of the night. I would get up in the morning & find them in the middle of the floor. I had given away several things that belonged to my Mom to a good friend. She later told me that the things I gave her had fallen in the night & would be found in the middle of the floor the next morning.
I was given a party shortly there after by this same friend. When the party ended & everyone had either gone home or crash out someplace, we were left standing in her kitchen talking. Just then some dried flowers that had belonged to my Mom, fell from the top of the refrigerator & landed on the floor in-between us. It had been a major party, lots of people, the fridge door was opened & closed MANY times getting food & beer through out the evening..... & the flowers fell when we were alone together!?! After everyone else had left.....

I knew it was Mom just trying to say Hi.

Finally one night I heard her footsteps coming down the hallway & stop in front of my bedroom door.(she had become somewhat crippled with age & had a unique shuffle to her walk) I can't believe I did not have the ba_ _s to look at the doorway, I just laid there. Eventually I heard the sound of footsteps walking away back down the hall.
After that I had the feeling that my Mom was no longer "around" & the weird stuff stopped.

I guess she was just saying goodbye.

Heres another ghost tale.
My old boss at work told me about people seeing a man in a plaid shirt around the building and you could only see him out of the corner of your eye.I told him yeah let me bend over so it will be easier for you to blow that smoke up my a$$.
Sometime later I saw a man in a plaid shirt but he was gone when I look right at the place he was.Saw him a few more times as did the other guy I worked with.We figure it was just that we knew the story and we were just seeing things because it was allways toward the end of a very late shift,3 or 4 am.
We did not know what to think when a temp on his first night helping us who we knew for sure did not know anything about the story came running in saying he saw a man walk around the building. He thought it was someone stilling something. With out really thinking it might be the ghost me and the other guy walked around the biulding and didn't see anyone. When we came back in I asked the temp if the guy had on a plaid shirt and he said he did "How did you know" we then told him about the ghost story. That was the only night he worked there.
That ghost may have moved on,I have not thought I have seen him in a few years.
When this happens there it is enough to really give you chill bumps. The place I work is not around any other building and has a large field on the other side of our fence that lead back to a creek. The lighting is low out side and is very near the lake with a light fog on most nights.I get the creeps when I am there by myself even after 10 years.

Well, in my part of the world, the supernatural and the real world do co-exist.. Been tossed around and spooked so many times during my field trips, I've lost count.. I often thread that thin line between belief and pessimism.. So VW ~ You are not nuts..

One way to get the ghosts to leave.

Leave the PC on to this forum.

Open to the longest thread posting.

Make sure the ghots can see it.

Once they start reading this dribble, they will surely forego their haunting at your place for more interesting ground!

If that does not work, perhaps you you menace them into leaving by brandishing a Spydie "Jester".

If none of the above works, switch forums. Or watch Penn and Teller's BS on Showtime.

Don't forget to yell "boo" louder than they. Those who fright first, fright best.

Early Halloween Greetings!

Interesting stories. Speaking for my part, though I do admit (theoretically) the existence of ghosts (or merely unexplained phenomenas which can be sometimes associated with ghosts), I hardly had any experience in this way.
VW, you or your sister try to sleep with the little one for a night or two, see what it happens. OTOH, try to explain her that there is no need to be afraid of ghosts, that there are friendly ghosts as well, and they just need help or try to make friends, just like a dog or a cat would do (maybe a video with Casper would help).
Speaking of cats, better bring a cat into the house instead of a dog. I heard cats are more sensitive at this sort of things.
Bringing a priest to make a small mesa in your house is also a good idea. It can do no harm, but it helps some way or another.

Aloha vampyrewolf!

Bro, I grew up hearing ghost stories. I also could have sworn I seen one at the old jail here. It was built in the 20's when bail was, for certain peaople, 25 cents! Lotta old timers who worked there say they have experienced weird things and heard murmuring...

When my grandfather passed away, the night before his services at the Punchbowl Memorial, I broke out in the meanest sweat I ever experienced...dude, I thought I pee'd in the bed! The next day, I was talking to my uncle, (his son) and told him about it. Came to find out that ALL the grandchildren experienced this same thing at the time my G'pa was being cremated! Weird...

You ain't crazy my canuckian friend...maybe ya drank decaf or something!? LOL!

Seriously bro, pray.

To quote old Bill Shakespear " There are more things in ....."

I agree with Daywalker. 1) Your not nuts, I think I have see and felt ghosts as well 2) Pray - helps with most things.

All the best.

Hi VW,

being an open minded sceptic I recommend the following:
- Has your niece been reading ghost stories? Does she have a very active imagination?
- Check the city archives for former owners of the building.
Then, based on that, check the newspaper archives for stories of the house.
- Contact a paranormal scientist from a University and see if he will investigate.

If you get a priest, it might just stop (for whatever reason if it's a psychological phenomenon) and you'll never find the truth.
And you don't want that, do you?

Let us know what happens and good luck!

Also around the time my father-in-law died (within a few nights), my wife and I were sitting on the sofa in our house, watching t.v.

The garage door (side door) opened and slammed shut. The door to our breezeway opened and closed (sliding glass door). Wondering who the **** was in my house, I got up to see. No one was there. There was about 2 1/2 feet of snow outside, no tracks, and no way the breezeway door opened.

At the same time, across the street, and my bro-in-law's house, someone walked up the cellar steps and slammed the door leading into the cellar...but no one else was in the house.

That's not the only wierd stuff that happened, but the other story takes a while.

Also, if you doubt that ghosts exist, visit the Gettysburg battle field around sundown and then try to convince me that there are no supernatural powers at work. I dare you! In the daytime, you can feel that something very profound happened on that ground. Toward dusk, it's even more powerful.

Plus, when they were filming the movie, "Gettysburg", dozens of people witnessed supernatural events all at the same time.

you just tell them to leave in a firm voice, tell them they are not welcome here. if that doesn't work tell them to go towards the light, sometimes they get misdirected on the way. children and young girls are more in tune with the ghosts for some reason and can see them when you can't, also they may only appear when the children are alone.

the real creepy thing is shadow-people that can travel inter-dementially and pop in on you at any time...

anyone ever see the little boy at the window in "three men and a baby" ? just got a cold chill typing that...LOL.

Scotland 1995:

Wife and I were staying in this privately owned castle. One that is normally rented out to large groups of people. But we weren't in tourist season so nobody there but us and proprietors.

We had this giant 4 poster bed with curtains all the way around it. Just for the heck of it, I closed the curtains before bed.

2AM: Wife wakes up SCREAMING. Says she woke up to person in our room putting their hand over her mouth. Freakin' curtains are drawn back and tied. But nobody is in there and our room is still locked.

Next morning, we ask owner (who looks just like Robin Williams) if he's ever heard any ghost tales. His wife says, "Sure... happens all the time. It's a poltergeist. Likes to steal our stuff. Had my wedding band for a month one time. I found it in the coin return of the pay phone."

They called her their "grey lady".

I got chills just typing it out.

Hey Bro I've been thinking of you lately, did you get another Ronin?

Ghost ! Yea Man - Did you ever hear of the Holy Ghost,or Angels of the Lord ? If you believe in God you know there is a Devil, along with his Evil spirits. If you dont then there must be a scientic reason for what she sees. I will pray for your relative Bro.

ok, maybe that one isn't true. next time your sitting in the dark by yourself at 3 am turn on the art bell radio show, i would listen to it in my patrol car in the wee hours staring at the deserted streets in the dark, pretty cool.

the cardboard cut-out still doesn't explain the shadow people or MIB's...or bigfoot (LOL)
