3. Started carrying a knife on a regular basis in 5th grade aprox. 10-yr-old, a small Japanese pen knife that I used to build models. First sheath knife was when I was 11 and could prove to my father that I could properly sharpen it. Usually carried a U.S. military pocket knife in Boy Scouts and Tot'n Chip instructor days. Today SAK Classic and Spyderco Dodo or SS Cricket.

I started carrying a knife when I was 8 this was fairly young for the UK but it was needed as I lived in a costal village and spent almost all of my time either fishing or camping!

Today, I carry a sub three inch blade on a daily basis. This is used for opening packages, cutting brown paper from rolls, trimming boxes to size and sharpening pencils.

When camping/walking, I use a 4 1/2 inch fixed blade as a camp knife (food preparation, skinning rabbits and heavier tasks) and a 4 inch folder as a back up.

I usually carry 2 folders with blades of 3 inches and under.

I use one for opening mail, peeling fruit, opening packages/boxes, food prep, and I keep one folder in reserve for potential rescue/emergency stuff.

I started carrying my first knife when I was 12 a SAK.

My favorite size knife is in the 3.5 inch range minimum to just under 4 inches . I use my knife at work to open boxes / cut tape and anything else that comes up through the day . I do a lot of work outside and usually a Spyderco is in my pocket at all times . I was given my first knife when I was 8 or 9 years old , a stockman type , and later of course just had to have an official Boy Scout Knife !

I've been carrying a pocketknife of one sort or another since I was 7 or 8; basically, since my parents decided that I was responsible enough not to hurt myself (or others) with it.

My EDC is from 1.25"(SAK) to 4"(Military)each carried daily with a Multitool that also has a blade.

Daily, I use my knife for packages, loose strings, yardwork, cutting zip-ties, food prep/eating, cutting paper, possibility of emergency situations, and anything else that a sharp blade would help me in getting the job done better.

I do not consider self defense as a reason I carry, because I feel it will generally cause more problems and take the situation to a level I want to avoid if possible. I, however, will not hesitate to use whatever tool is nesessary that a situation calls for.

I probably started carrying a knife daily when I was about 10, but had used knives since I was about 7 or 8 at home with and without supervision.

I've been carrying knives starting befor Cub Scouts. So about 5. I grew up doing a lot of outdoors stuff. So having a knife is natural tool for me.

Sorry to read you are experiencing legal troubles. It would not surprise me to find Craftsman getting sued for manufacturing hammers. Seems to me that nearly any tool could be a deadly weapon when in the hands of one so inclined. Trial lawyers!

My edc is between 3-4".

Uses for my edc includes, but are not limited to: opening mail, boxes and clamshell packages; cutting rope, tape, string, food and fishing line.

I began carrying a knife when I was about 6 or 7. I lived in the country on a lake. My parents said I used to sharpen anything handy to try to make a knife, so they decided I may as well get a real one.

Small repairs, fingernails (SAK).
Started carrying a Knife around Boy Scout age of 12 and have carried a knife ever since. A pocket knife at school was not a crime when I was a student.

Sal, I've been carrying a knife since I was 7 years old which means I've been carrying for 43 years. On a daily basis I carry up to a 3 1/2" fixed blade and several folders, including an auto, anywhere from 3" to 4".

In a work situation I've cut everything from boxes, packing straps, rattlesnakes out from tennis netting, a javalina out from under a car, seatbelts on accident victems and too many other instances that I can't immediately think of.

1. I carry several knives, the largest is a 4" folder, and a couple of 3" folders (in a mission wallet and as a money clip.) I will often add to that, perhaps a small neck knife (1.5 in.) or other small pocket carry knife (1 in.)
2. I use my knives for a great number of daily chores like opening packaging/boxes, making a box for shipping, cutting tags off of clothing, cutting an ad out of a magazine, eating an apple, working around the house (drip irrigation system, trimming the top of a door so it closes right, stripping wires, cutting a pulled thread on the carpet, trim a plant/tree, etc.) The list is long and varried.
2a. Also carry for self-defense, although never have and hope too never actually use it for that.
3. I started carrying a pocket knife in the 6th grade (about 11) and have carried them ever since.

1.5" - 4", everyday cutting, occaisionally carving, opening mail, stripping wire, eating apples....still don't think of it as anything other than my favorite tool. Got my first around 5 years old (35 years ago), carried one everyday since. Still have the first but, now it has lots of friends.
