OT: My LT's passing...

#1

Post by DAYWALKER »

Aloha ALL!

Tonight was the viewing of my LT. I prepped myself for days to not "break" upon seeing him in his casket.

As I approached the casket, I started to bawl like a baby. Gave my goodbye, placed a can of Coca Cola in his casket with him, (He LOVED the stuff!), gave him a salute and an about face...then I had to report back to the facility as I was assigned to do investigations. Some of my fellow officers were like, "Nah, Chad, kick back man..."

But I knew my LT would return to do what he was assigned to do. So i left, and resumed my duties as best i could.

I just wanted to say mahalo to all who gave their support during this most difficult time for me.

God bless and thank you.

Chad, again, words really aren't even sufficient for the pain.

It is the duty of living to mourn the dead, and to send them off in as best a way possible. You did your duty, and well. Be proud.

Be well.

Mahalo ALL of you.

Today was the "last day"...he was buried this afternoon. His "color" looked better today than last night...I also noticed a can of Coke was not in his casket. Hmmmmmmm...

Today was a day of closure for me i guess. Now, I will just wait for the day when I WILL see him again in accordance to God's Word.

I didn't feel TOO bad about crying...even Jesus wept.

Thanks again all of you, and God bless you ALWAYS.

Hi Chad. An honest man shouldn't be ashamed of his feelings <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> I am sure that if there is such thing as afterlife, your Lt. smiles proudly when he thinks of you.

Chad, I agree; don't feel bad about crying, it's a human emotion.

The environment of corrections is not a forgiving one. I know that crying is a major sign of "weakness" to many people associated with our line of work, and so we feel badly when we do it.

It's at times like these when you have to be stronger and rise above the stereotypes and just cry. Don't be afraid to be an individual; it's what makes us, US.
God bless, bro'.
