OT: How did you get your Forum name?

#1

Post by DAYWALKER »

Aloha ALL!!!

Just curious, as there are so many "colrful" Forum names here.

As for me, well, it all started when BLADE was showing on tv at one of our units. The inmates started calling me "Daywalker"...Whatever, I thought. Then, while watching BLADE II one day, my daughter came out of her room right when Blade was wiping out all these vamps in riot gear near the blood pool and my daughter says, "HE fights like YOU dad." That settled it! LOL!

I even went as far as to tatoo the tribal on Blade's arm from BLADE II, with my family "mon" above it. (A mon is a Japanese family crest)

The inmates to this day STILL call me "Daywalker"...so that's how I got my Forum name. Wanted to use TopGun since I won this award during my CO training, but ahhhh, I liked the comment my lil' girl made! LOL!!!

So...how 'bout you all?

God bless!

Mine's from this: a ZRX1100. Those that ride them are sometimes called "ZRX'ers" which became "Zrexxer."

Hi Chad,

I have a pretty strong Swedish-American heritage... hence the name.

Easy it is my "nickname" and I use a variation of it in all the forums. The "nickname" is based on my initials - my first name is John - do you know how many Johns there are in the world. I was in the pub the other day and 3 of the customers inc. me was named John and so was the Barman. I hate John!!

Nothing spectacular to me either. It comes from my name - which is Diaconescu Alexandru (and you were thinking that "Schwarzenegger" is difficult to pronounce) .
Congratulations on your fist 1000 milestone, Chad. Keep them comin'

My nick was stuck on me about 20 years ago when I was helping a buddy of mine work on his VW Bug. He started calling me Haji and decided he liked it. He introduced me to people using that name, and used it around our mutual friends to the point that they all picked up on it. The name comes from Johnny Quest's sidekick. I guess Doug liked that I was about the polar opposite of an Indian Sikh, being 6'6" tall and pretty much a redneck. There are a lot of people in the world who have no idea what my real name is.

I'm in a SAR/USAR team called RATS (Rescue And Techincal Support) WWW.RATS.co.nz.

My 'Rat number' (tag number) is 54 hence RAT 54.

It has been 10 years ago when I was at Kunsan AB, Korea. I use to carry 3 Spyderco's and a multitool. They thought I was crazy(converted a few while I was there, but that's another story) and called me "Blades". When the forums started popping up on the internet(back when everyone was using dial-up) I needed a "name". "Blades" it was! I'm "Blades" on all the forums I visit. I also carry a few more these days(7 and a multitool).

I own about 100 knives, between the brands Spyderco (my favorites "O.C.&quot, ColdSteel, C.R.K.T., Buck, Gerber; some fixed blades and a lot of junk from S.M.K.W.
My goal is to reach "500" blades....

Jurphaas is my full Christian name. I usually go by Jur, but I also react to "Martien" my twin brother's name.

king-of-mars is a mutation of an earlier nickname. A friend used to call me a Martian because of the unorthodox way I have for coming up with solutions to problems. After a while it grew into being the king of all Martians! Are you happy now Marvin, uh I mean Chad! LOL!
