Civilian no boet.
You guys in the US have it "easy" with guns, we have it "easy" with knives.
You may have only 1 semi-auto pistol(or revolver) and 1 rifle(or shotgun)

You need to do a course to now own a firearm as well as having you evaluated wether you are mentally compatent or not.(you pay the 100 dollars for the exam, its a b*tch to get one now)(ps i just love the GUN FREE SOUTH AFRiCA adds on TV constantly, lets be gun free while guys armed with illegal AK47 rifles kill your 78 year old grand mother on a farm, after terrorizing her and raping her a few times.)

If some1 breaks in your house n rapes your wife, please dont shoot him in the back while he runs, dont matter he is in your house, you will be up for murder.
No matter what his intent is, this country has gone to the criminals, thats fact, protect the criminals n kill the innocent, besides its the criminal scum thats still allowed to vote in this coutry.

A prime example are two old woman (in their 70s) who live on a small plot of land near my aunt, there are no phones down there so there is no real contact with anyone.
Because of the size of the land (small farm) the neighbours would not hear your screams, ofcause our so called "underprivileged" community members know this.
They attemped to break into this house 2 days ago, trying to force the bars off the windows, one of the old woman had a old revolver of her now dead husband.
She fired off a shot out a window into the ground which scared the would be criminals off.
When she reported this to the police they threatened to have her imprisoned because what she did is not legal.
Their words are "you may only shoot the suspect once he is n your house and ready to kill you."

How is a man meant to protect his family under this?, atleast Mr Mandela has armed guards protecting him with R4 assualy rifles night and day, its not like he is alone on a farm under this threat.

God bless South Africa, cause someone sure as **** needs to.

Cheers

Laws - South Africa

#7

Post by Thinus8470 »

Hi there

I am a Registered Firearms Assessor in S.A.
You are allowd to have 4 firearms in total; one for Self-Defence and the rest for hunting or Sport.

If however you become a Dedicated Sports person or Dedicated Hunter, well then you can own as much firearms as you can afford and MOTIVATE!
The Laws are still very crappy though, if you like things like Military Firearms, you can only get them as far as I know when you are a Collector of Firearms in that specific catagory.

Which Spyderco would you guys say is the best for S.D. ?

I personally carry at this point of time a Cold Steel Vaquero 5" ; a Gerber Combat Folder +/- 4,2" and finnish of with a Spyderco MeerKat.
As if that is not enough you will also find a ASP button 21" on mu side.

I stay on a farm and therefore on getting at the office in the morning a lock away my Glock 19 in a safe.:

South African Knife laws?

Post by merthyrmafia »

When you consider South Africa as the highest murder rate and rape cases, anyware in the world I dont think someone carrying a little Spyderco knife will cause much of a stir, If I lived there would be looking to arm myself to the teeth! Talk about lawless I could tell you some awful stories, that's why all the wealthy and super rich South Africans either live in the UK, Europe or Australia.

According to the Dangerous Weapons Act 71 of 1968 as amended on 1 October 1996 (the proposed 2008 amendments were not past due to public comments) you are not allowed to carry a knife with a blade longer then 10cm, a dagger, sword, saber or panga. Those are the only knife related things mentioned, rest are things like mortars, grenades, sharpened metal sticks.

So you are safe to carry a Endura or Persian.

This is a beautiful country and I dont see myself leaving it. I still believe this country has great potential and do my part to contribute to it. We have our problems (crime), other countries have their own problems. There is no perfect nation.

No problem, lots of us have done it at least once. :D When I do, I blame it on the "go to first new post" button. ;)

Thank you all for the input...

I take it the 12" Cold steel Kukri will bring me in trouble....
It is always in my Back pack with a 7" Peace Keeper.

The S30V looks like a good choice.

Thanks
