Should I "wait" to buy a Paramilitary?

#1

Post by Jeff/1911 »

Hi Folks,

Just wondering...do you think there may be design or production improvements coming in the near future on this model? I was hoping to get one with no vertical blade play but it seems that this may prove elusive, from what I have recently heard.

I really like the looks of this knife, and surely must own one, or more than one.

Your thought, esteemed knife brethren?

Best wishes, Jeff.

Jeff,
No don't wait. I just purchased another two, one for a trade (actually shipped to Canada for a Q) and it already has improvements over the original. What I noticed immedately is the lock side liner at the pivot now extends to the top scale edge. Before it was 100% nested. I wonder if the change makes the lock MBC strength. I think this is pretty impressive since the knife has been out to the public 3-4 months. Plus the 2 new ones (from NGK) I could not descern blade play. But then I like the knife so much maybe I can't see it <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Chris,

Thanks for your feedback. I'm not fanatical about the blade play thing either...just thought maybe I should "cool my heels" for awhile. You're right...that's just silly.

Besides, if they do become "improved" later on, I'll just buy another one then.

Thanks, Jeff.

I heard that several things had allready been improved on.The first run had the grove for the lock to hold the blade shut cut all the way up the tang.It wasn't long at all befor it was only cut half way up.Improved the look and from what I heard gave a stronger dentant on keeping the blade closed.

It's such a great knife, if the size suits you, get it now. My Para is about as good a knife as you can get short of a custom.
