Hi Chad, the "through the years" section in my catalogs show the intro date as 1998. My best guess is that it hit the streets either very late in 98 or sometime in 99.
Not sure about production figures, but most runs are 1000 to 1200 pieces, and based on the fact that Ti Lum Tanto shows up on eBay pretty regularly, would say there must have been at least a couple runs. Not sure why the switch from TI to G10 was made, may have been a materials availability issue, or that Sal like the design but the Ti version was not selling as well as hoped.
Sales seem to be the most frequent final arbiter of what stays in the lineup and what goes and I'd suspect that was the reason the C46 was dropped. It's a sad fact that the models that appeal to us nuts don't always appeal to the general public and thus don't sell well, and that collaboration folders seem especially prone to this. The C46, in its various flavors, did stay in the lineup longer than some of the others. On the bright side, this "turnover" in models does allow more different ones to get into production.

aaaahhh! 1998 was a good year! The Ti-Lum Tanto, well, despite it being discountinued, is one of 's finest folding knife.. Here are some shots for you Daywalker..

The "Ying-Yang" of Lum.. A Ti and Tactical version of the Lum Tanto

Closer look on the blade finish of both folders...

The Lum Folding Tanto and of course, the much revered LumTo.. The only fixed blade tanto in s line-up, also discontinued..

Mahalo for the kind words my friend.. The Ti-Lum is built to last. I saw it take more than 250lbs of pressure before the lock failed at Spyderco's R&D facility.. A good knife indeed!
