Samo,

Your BFC name said you're in/from Malaccas. Is that the "Spice Islands"? If so, you're probably the most qualified gourmand of the online knife world. If not, you still might be, but definitely if you are.

Fortunately, I'm not a slave of the belly, food doesn't tell me much (except for the peanut butter, I could eat tons of it)

Thom ~ Moluccas is a cluster of isles belonging to Indonesia. I'm currently base in Malacca, the oldest settlement or rather, "city" in the whole of Malaysia.. The Portuguese invaded this coastal town in 1511, then came the Dutch and finally the Brits in the 1800s.. Spice trade begins here in Malacca.. We have Portuguese fort ruins, Dutch Administrative buildings and a mish-mash of Chinese and East Asian cultural heritage.. Pretty interesting..

Shards ~ Thanks for the well-wishes dude!

That's right Jur! Holland was here sometime in the 1700 after Portugal ran out of steam.. Their legacy stood still at the Stadhys building in the town centre..

Isn't Kobe beef somewhere around $100 USD a pound? Feeding it beer and massaging it with sake has to be a mite pricey.

Aha, now we talk about hot chilis. Now try Habaneros and Caribeans (SP maybe). If you want hot. Sorry, gets off topic.

Samo,

Thanks again. My last martial arts instructor had a teacher from western Indonesia (from Sumatra, IIRC) who ate little chilis the way Americans eat potato chips. Up until my stomach told me I'm not Malayan by any means, I wanted to do that.

Jaxon,

Ah yes, habaneros! They're what told prompted my stomach to acknowledge I can't eat hot peppers like our friends in southeast Asia. There are also hot-pepper extracts, some of which are more concentrated than OC spray. Check out Mo Hotta Mo Betta for a sampling of how the good word of heat is spread.

Gosh, I'm a bad typist!

Hey Thom, Sumatra is our neighbour.. Just 30 nautical miles off Malacca.. I guess.. Very close.. So, you practised "Silat?" That's cool! I can live with them live pepper dills.. Burns a hole on the tounge! Habaneros! Now we're talking! A coupla years back while I toured the Southwest, I was treated to dinner at a tortilla bar.. Awesome.. Picked up this "innocent" looking bottle of hot sauce with the picture of a senorita on it.. And the rest drove me to tears.. *heh-heh!* I stock Tabascos in my apartment and use them mainly to douse my meals.. volatile stuff! I missed the Southwest and the Midwest! Friendly folks!

Ok,I came home from a LONG hot night at work last night and looked at this post.I WAS going to go to bed with out eating but after this I thought I will fix me a bite to eat.
So hear is the tragic story of my dinner last night.
First off it was about 1:30 am and I was going to really cook anything so I found a Banquet frozen meal in the frezer. It was grilled BQ chicken, corn and mashed potatos.
Well I nuked it and took a bite of what ever it was they called chicken and promptly spit it in the trash.I did manage to swallow the table spoon full of corn and glue and flour mixture they call mashed potatos.
After that I just hit to old stand by-eggos and link sausage.UUUMMM healthy eat'un.

Hey Samo did you use a centofante to cut the Kobe with? If not than it was just the best beef money can buy I had my one and only Kobe at The <A HREF="http://www.seelbachhilton.com/hoteldini ... Oakroom in Louisville. Now that was the way to end the perfect day at the track.

Samo,

While my teacher studied silat and I look at langkhas and djurus from my friend's magazine article, I don't study/practice silat. But I did used to eat hot peppers a lot. Does that count?
