Native Question?

#1

Post by king-of-mars »

I've noticed with the three different Natives I have that they all have left to right blade play if you grab the tip with one hand and hold the handle with the other and move the blade from side to side. The Endura's and Delica's I have are rock solid. My question is if this is common with all the FRN handled Natives? Let me know if any of you Native owners out there have noticed this.

KoM

I have just given 6 of mine a wobble! They are al rock solid! Not even the slightest bit of play up, down, right of left.

Regards Ken

BargainBlades,
Thanks for the info, mine are all different generations of Natives, one is even brand new. Maybe I'm just unlucky with the Natives. The Native III's I have seem to have the least amount of side to side play.

Aloha K.O.M.!

My 1st gen. has slight wobble. But my blue III doesn't. It seems like all my Endura/Delicas are all solid in side to side play, EXCEPT for my CE Delica FRN. This one has gone through MBC ****, so I'm surprised it still even functions!

I wouldn't worry about it...BTW, how's your Walker?

Mine only have slight up and down play but that is in the design of the lock.

Daywalker,
The Walkers great, thank you for the recommendation on it. I guess I won't worry about the native too much then, I thought it was maybe something that was common with the Native design. Like I said my Endura's and Delica's seem to be a lot more solid in side to side play than the Natives I have.

Aloha K.O.M.

Boy, the excuses we come up w/ to buy yet another knife!!! LOL! TOO many variables here to discern any worry over the wobble...

Glad you like your Walker!

Take care and mahalo!

Just checked my Native (440V, Earth). No blade play, neither laterally nor vertically.

I currently have FRN models, Endura, Vesuvious, Native, and Dragonfly. I have had three others as well, and none of them have had any blade play side to side nor horizontal! RKBA!

I have a SS Native and a FRN Native, neither have any form of play up or to the side.

I think you are just a tad unlucky with yours.

Cheers

I have two S30V Natives. My PE is rock solid, but my CE has some movement that I don't like. I sent it back to Spyderco to see if they could tighten the lock up, but all they did was sharpen the already sharp blade & send it back to me.

I guess it's not a problem?

I just ordered another Native, so hopefully this one will be ok. If not then I'll know I'm cursed!

I just got the new Native and it's solid as a rock! Kind of strange about the other three I have.
