Hi guys

Jbake Im headed to UTAH side of the world.
Ive never shot a .40 to be honest, only 9mm and my .45.
I dont know how much extra mussle lift you will get with the G22 .40, although the G21 is a fair bit longer and hevier.

I know my G21 is a joke to shoot, I get twice the lift on a 9mm Beretta than I do on this .45

Any of you guys that have had lift problems fired the Compensated models of the Glocks?

Im curious just how much down force these vents produce to counter the lift.

Cheers

Thanx a million for that great site (packing.org), these are the top points for UTAH:

Resident Permit/License: yes
Non-resident Permit/License: yes
Shall-issue Permit/License: yes
Must apply in person: no
Permit/License age minimum: 21
Shall-issue means that the issuing authority has no discretion when to issue Permit/License if the applicant is not disqualified.

"Resident Permit/License: yes "
"Non-resident Permit/License: yes "

Now if Im not been too blonde, this means when Im over there I can apply for a license and own a firearm.

I would love to bring my faithfull G21 with me, but then I see the Glock23's and the Glock 30s and wonder if I should not just sell mine and pickup one there.

You guys get them so cheaply, I see G21's for a mear 509 dollars, that is a joke, my firearm is worth over 12000 Rand brand new.
Now at 6.6 Rand to 1 US $, you can work out for yourself where I will be scoring.

Ill be able to sell my lovely nickel plated baby for around 8000 Rand (+-$1200.00)

Anyways thanx again, things are starting to look up.

Cheers

MaNcEr

The magazine disconnect removal seems to be a popular thing to do on the HP. I have removed it on my 9MM FM (Argentine issue) shooter as well as doing an amateur hammer/sear job on it. It works flawlessly. I also have a 1995 Capitan and a T-Series gun (which is the Holy Grail of BHP's) and both are unfired and reside in my gunsafe. As you have probably guessed I am a BHP nut and think that they are super guns. I also have a 1991A1 which I accurized but I don't shoot it much any more.

Mancer,

I would keep your 21 *if* you can bring it in. I was thinking... That thing is going to have different proof / importation marks on it and I don't know what the legalities of bringing it into the country would be.

Does anyone know? Has anyone done this? I know you can buy guns (like old German police HK P7's) on the US market, but I think they have to go through an approved importer. I think they even get new additional markings then. I'm just guessing at this - I don't know for sure.

I'd hate for you to be greeted by BATF or Customs agents at the airport.

Even if you can bring it in, I might go for a different gun for CCW. I personally would just want something that didn't raise any eyebrows or questions. I'm guessing there are som cops who have seen enough Glocks and might realize yours was marked differently. It wouldn't be that you were doing anything wrong, but it might delay you if you were ever checked out.

OK, just edited this because I just did the math. I would sell it over there and get something new here

What you are quoting is from the Utah state administrative code regarding concealed carry and has nothing to do with whether you are permitted to own a firearm under United States federal law (The Gun Control Act of 1968)

The US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms issued this interpretation to Federal Firearms Licensees regarding sales to aliens:

Hey guys, heres my G21, well looks like I wont be bringing it over nor will I ever own one again, myself and my fiance discussed it and she "does not like firearms" as she says, so I guess I wont be owning a glock or pretty much any firearm again.

Oh well was a plesure while I had this superb piece of hardware.

This is just me but I feel strongly enough at about the right to own firearms that I would not marry someone who said I could not have any.
May have been wrong on the Browning quote but I am 99% sure I heard that on a doc. about him.
BTW dos everyone know that when Sal replies here that you are interacting with a man that will go down in history as the John Browning of the knife world?

OK, I know she reads the forum... So please don't take any offense, future Mrs. Mancer

It seems to me that she may be having a knee jerk reaction. There are a lot of folks over here that believe a gun is an evil weapon of destruction that can do no good.
"It's the criminals stupid".

I know that they are a tool. They can save your life, protect those that you care about, and give you great enjoyment at the range.

I'm a little surprised that she dislikes guns, but seems to like sharp point things.

Some folks don't like to have them around the house because of kids. I have two little ones myself. ALL of my firearms are locked up. I keep two in quick access safes. these require a keycode to be entered before they open.

Talk to her and make certain she understands what they mean to you and why and try to get to the bottom of her feelings.

My wife was not a great fan of them either. However, she trusts me and knows how much I enjoy them - she'll even go to the range with me ever y once in a while. Actually, I think she's a better shot than I am with her Glock 19.

And finally, there are a lot of other women in Utah

Na guys, not taken wrong at all.
I can understand why, she had a real bad experience when she was younger with a firearm, and thus they make her real nervous.

She is only this way really toward handguns as this was the weapon during this event.
I have been looking at rifles, always wanted one infact.
One I like the look of but have no info on is the Beretta Cx4Storm Carbine (in either .40 or .45)

Any of you have experiece with these rifles?

Cheers

I agree with jbake. I'm sure she's a reasonable gal and would trust your judgement and responsibility. My wife of almost 40 years at first did not like guns since they were not a factor in her household. She would leave the room whenever I handled my first LEO hand down, a S&W Model 10. Had to keep it safe 'cause of the two boys but never a problem. And one of the boys is now also an enthusiast. Now the collection numbers probably three dozen handguns, rifles, and shotguns of all kinds and calibers, along with all the ammo, components and loading stuff, and she doesn't bat an eye when they are around.

I used to have a compensated Glock 23 in .40 caliber. I can say that the ports definitely make a difference in the recoil; the compensated models do recoil considerably less than the standard models.

I was used to my 23C, and borrowed a friend's standard 23 to shoot in a GSSF match. Wow! What a surprise!

Hey Daywalker.

Ye the storm looks great, Im planning on getting a Cx4 storm most likely in .45 with the top accesory rail with a good red dot scope, and the bottom rail with one of the M6 lighting systems.

Cant wait to give one a try out, at between 500-700 dollars they not to pricey if you ask me, and the reviews Ive read make this firearm even more difficult to resist.

Take care

I own a Glock 21C. It is the compensated 45 caliver model. Recoil is a joke with it I can easily keep all 16 rounds on a man sized target with at least 13 to 14 center mass and the other 2 to 3 usally goint to the head. Yes 16 rounds, I have 3 clips with extensions on them. It's real nice to have 46 rounds of 45 caliber Black Talon ready to go downrange. I have put well over a thousand rounds through these magazines with absolutly no problem at all! I've even put several 45Super rounds through it. I also find an M3 Tac. Ilm. helps a little too.

Hey Mancer I thought the G18 was the glock of choice "down there"?

Give me 45cal, it still is a favorite to many including me.

I'd rather be tried by 12, than carried by 6

Jim, I have a compensated model 22. Make me an offer. lol. It may help the recoil some, but it has the most godawful muzzle blast of any handgun I've ever owned. I prefer my regular model 22.

Hey DAYWALKER,
EDC on the 40 Locked and Cocked? One Hot in the chamber? I own an HK-SoCom .45 but like my Strider to Heavy Duty for EDC,For EDC my choice just like my Endura is a Sig 380 stainless,No rust or fuss. Last count 5 HK's .3 colts, 3 Sigs, 1 Ruger,2 glocks.
The way things are going with gun control I think any fine handgun is a good investment.I've never sold one for less than what I paid for it.
That would be a good topic! Match a to carry with what handgun.. oh yeah 1 Berretta...RKBA
