No for real: The topic is the BM Blackwood (2004 catalog) and there are 3 ROUND holes in the blade...one used to open the knife!!!

Otherwise, I really like the design (unsurprisingly)...and its a monster of a folder

yea, well, spyderco uses the "ball bearing lock," which is pretty similar to the axis lock.

and who cares? both companies are awesome and both seem to be doing just fine.

theres always going to be overlap in ideas in the evolution of products. i say it's a good thing, because it means better products in general.

the ball-bearing DIDNT immediately recall a BM. the OpeningHole immediately recall a Spydie.period.

it's funny how all that people sayin' "wow" to the skirmish doesnt recognise the fact that they like the knife 'cause is SO SIMILAR to a SPYDERCO..

please, who can confute that the skirmish SEEMS a Spydie ? and why has been so difficult to erase the hole ? this is a dangerous thing, if BM can do it (using a patended trademark ), why a knockoff producer cant ? where's the difference ? ..i really dont think that Sal and Spyderco deserve such a treatment. i never bought a BM , nor i'll do. and i'll ask to my friend to do the same.

maybe we could erase this thread and we can continue this stupid arguement in one of the 15 other identical threads on this board....or maybe we could just drop it.

No need for a fight. Maybe somebody at Spyderco could state wether their relation with BM is a health one or not. But from the recent article in Blades illustrated, I would guess that Spyderco and BM have mutual respect for each other and have worked out their conflicts of interest originating from design similarities.

I don't believe there is any cause to shun BM nor do I think there is reason to close this thread and thus to simply ignore these similarities (and I don't think that there has been a thread about the 2004 product line...of any company). We are educated consumers and I think it is a heathy sign that we take note of what we observe.
