your EDC in the kitchen?

#1

Post by Jimmy_Dean »

Do you ever use your pocket knife in the kitchen? Of course I don't do it when people are watching because I look like a maniac but because I don't have too much money, I came to realize that some of my folders peel potatoes much better than my kitchen knives do. And I'm a camper so it's also a good way to see how a new knife will perform in the field. Anybody else?

not so much in the kitchen, but when my fiancee and i are out somewhere and need to, say, cut up an apple or whatnot, she generally asks for my knife.

I recently got a K04 and K05 <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> kitchen knife. Since then I haven't used my much more expensive 'Zwilling & Henckels Professional S' knives anymore...

Always use my Globals in the kitchen. Occasionally I will use my EDC to open a package in the kitchen. I did use the Perrin Bowie a few times in the kitchen, worked awesome. Take Care!!!

I always do that, it's one of my standard tests for new knives. It's actually a pretty good way to introduce non-knife people to good knives - cutting food is one of the most natural activities to most where a good knife is appreciated.

CE Military. When I get home I switch my normal EDC. Then I use it for everything but chopping.

I use my SE Delica on virtually any cutting chores (food preparation included). Works great, especially since I gave it that full flat grind. Yet, I find it a bit too short sometimes.
My wife uses also a Spydie in the kitchen - not always, but oftenly enough. Now it's the Shabaria, two weeks ago was the Lum Chinese.

Hi,

I cannot use my Spydercos in the kitchen as i use non food grade lubricating oil.

Have a great day,
Kaizer.

PE Calypso Jr sees a lot of use for food prep, great little slicer and peeler. AG Russell full flat ground version of the C34 Horn is also a great kitchen tool. Bought a pot of chives last weekend, harvested some with my Harpy, chopped them up with a PE Rescue, and had me a really great baked potato with bacon, sour cream and chives.
