Michael Walker Light ?

#1

Post by king-of-mars »

I was wondering if any of the forum members has or had a Michael Walker Light #SC-37PBK. I saw one on the G. Sakai website and thought it looked cool, but I wanted some opinions about it before I tried to purchase one.

I have one.I would say its a dress light use folder. It has a thin liner and the one on mine travels a good little way across the tang.

I have a prototype of this model, which locks up tight. Almost all the others I've seen have a lot of liner travel, and that liner is pretty thin, so I agree with Jeff's comment "dress, light-use".

Thanks for the information, I'll keep it in mind if I do decide to buy one, sounds like it wouldn't be the first choice for an EDC.

Aloha King of Mars!

By all means GET it! I have one and I love the circular protrusion that covers the blade pivot pin. Kinda assists in controling the blade.

This is one of my ALL time favorite Spyders! The edge geometry is excellent!

Aloha Daywalker, sounds like it's a cool knife, just one question about the liner, do you think it's strong enough for normal use such as cutting boxes and everyday tasks? That seems to be the recurring negative I've heard about the knife.

I had EDC'd one for about a month and it did fine. It was just the fat integral clip that drove me nuts.

Aloha and sorry so late your majesty of mars! yes, the Walker is a COOL knife.(Understatement!)

I haven't popped coconuts w/ it even though I do live in Hawaii. BUT, it did hold up very well against cardboard of all densities and made QUICK work of packing straps.

BUT, as an MBC'er,(I practice w/ ALL my knives, even my Ladybug!) I have noticed I can get it to unlock, or come very close to it if I grip it HARD! we're talking "it's hitting the fan gorilla grip you're gonna have to shoot me to let go" kind of hard.

BUT, if cardboard, tape and other mediums are your plans for the Walker, GO FOR IT. You will be VERY glad you did! BTW- the Walker's got that "lightsaber" like edge geometry too! It just doesn't have the flashlight looking handle, long glowing blade, auto opening/closing, and cool sound effects...It sure cuts like one though!

Keep us posted!
