"Waved" Spydercos...

#1

Post by The Saint »

Does anybody know of anyone who does custom "waving?" I've seen waved Civilians, Matriarchs, Enduras, and the like, and it's really quite an interesting idea, though it's far beyond my admittedly inept metal-working abilities.

sc_rebel does do a good job.

BUT. waving isn't out of your capabilities. got a dremel? just make sure you go real slow, quench it frequently, and DRAW the cutout on the blade w/ a sharpie before you start.

theres a few pics of mine if you scroll down. g'luck.

OK, thanks everyone. Much appreciated. :D

BTW, believe me, it *is* beyond my abilities. The only reason I passed grade 8 shop class was because I didn't A) destroy a single piece of equipment, B) open an artery on the bandsaw, or C) electrocute myself during the circuitry unit.

The Saint -

I don't know if you're aware of how to find
a forum-ites e-address : just go above a post by that forum-ite ( sc_rebel1957 ) and
click on the "mail" icon ; now if your system doesn't have e-mail properly installed you'll get a "system message" to that effect ( like if you're in a pvblic library ) so look at the InterNet Explorer
( or what ever system you use ) bar at the bottom of the screen, and in the left hand corner you'll see "mailto - " with the e-address of that forum-ite.

Now, when was Ron's last post!?!

You can contact Ron here: sc_rebel1857@yahoo.com. He really makes a fine job.
He also has a website, (but I don't know the address)
I remember I've seen recently a very nice waved Military at Bladeforums (too bad they got broken down, I think the respective topic is lost )

CIVILIAN-
you can probably use any cutting wheel on your dremel, but i would highly, highly recommend the "reinforced" ones. they are the ones that are like 4 times as expensive as the others. but they are probably 4 times as durable, and will save you the pain of constantly having to change the wheels out/having the shatter.

the saint-

it would just take some time and a little beforehand practice.

knives i ruined trying to "wave:"
2 1st Gen "natives" (the real cheap ones on ebay)
1 CRKT DOG
1 spyderco progrip (actually, this one went real well, but i ended up breaking it doing another misc. activity)

BTW.. ironically, in 7th grade shop class, i DID cut myself on a bandsaw. no arteries severed, but it was a considerably unpleasant experience.
know what the saddest part was? i cut myself, and the shop teacher yells at me! i know it was my fault and i was being unsafe, but isn't the blood and pain punishment enough?
