Spyderco knives in movies?

#1

Post by The Saint »

The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Hannibal's G10 Harpy in Hannibal (duh), and Alonzo Harris' Police model in Training Day (at least, I think it was a Police. Would make sense, seeing as the guy was a police officer and all).

Any others?

(And for the record, this stems from incredible boredom as much as anything else, so go nuts.)

The cleaner tried to use one on Nikita in the film of the same name

My first sighting that I remember was one of the bad guys in "Hard Target" (yeah, I know, Van Damme movie, bah!) Anywho, it was a PE SS Police, I think. But I never seen a one-handed opener before, and when the bad guy kneels over the dead body and does a slow one-handed opening I was like hey!? how'd he do that? Early nineties, mind you...

OK Mr. Saint ... Here's trivia for ya ... In the recent movie "The Saint". What kind of knife did Val Kilmer cut the Russian bad guy's automobile fuel line with? I don't think it was a Spydie, ... or was it? I honestly don't remember ..

Were's all of the C-12's? IS there any knife that would look better on the big screen. Theres nothing cooler than someone flawlessly opening a RH & LH CF Civilian's at the same time.

Exposure!!! Peter Coyote is stabbed with a SS Police. Sweet camera shot. Bad Boys had the bad guy with a Civilian too. Exposure is the best though, IMHO. Take Care!!!

Stevie Ray: I don't believe I've seen the movie [The Saint], so I'm afraid I can't answer your question. Sorry.

The first Spydie I ever saw was in a SF movie named "Screamers". I think it was an SS SE Police (or Endura). I have to see the movie again and watch closely.
Anyway, I think Spydies are by far the most used folders in movies.

I may be wrong, saw it a long time ago, but I BELIEVE a bad guy in Enemy of the State had a Harpy.

Already listed in the very long list above, but in "the client" one is featured repeatedly and quite prominently, giving lead badguy the nickname 'the blade'. Think it was a stainless police PE, but I'm not sure, it's been a while..

If I remember correct, it was a SE Police with a custom handle (looked like pearl) in The Client...

I've seen Spydercos in many of the films already mentionned but you all seem to forget a very important one: "Clockstoppers"! He takes a SS Endura out of some bum's pockets and punches throught the paint can. Great movie

From the top of my head, I remember a serrated delica being used in close-up in Payback, and in the Beastie Boys music video 'Sabotage', it's in plain almost microscopic view if you select the hilarious 'knife-fight angle' on their anthology DVD. But it's very very briefly in the finished cut of the video.

Cheers,

Wouter
