Folks, its interesting to see what most of you eat.. Well, your daily supplement and staple diet. Since moving down South, I've been eating out a lot.. Just had my kitchen set up lately and here's what I have on the dining table : Kimchee and Kaktugi, Fish curry and canned luncheon meat.. It's home cookin' allright! So, what kinda food do you guys savour after a long day at work?

For me dureing the week it is the frozen barely eatable stuff and the 99 cent heart attack crap.On the weekends I eat alittle better.Home cooking type stuff is thing like Roast with potatos and carrots with cream of mushroom and lipton onion soap mixed added.Fried ckicken,biskets,mashed potatos,cornbread,corn,greenbeans,mac and cheese.
Toward the end of summer is my fav foods.
Pinto Beans with fat back and corn relish,fresh greenbeans,fresh fried Okra(not like you get when you eat out but the fresh stuff fried up with flour and corn meal with green tomatos added in),corn on the cob,collard greens,Chicken and dumplings or as we say dumpluns.

I love mediterranean cooking the most, but have been known to conjure edible food from a wok, too.
Apart from that, northern german cuisine is, of course, fine.<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Weekdays I mostly eat my warm meals in the university's mensa.
Great thread idea, btw, maybe we should even exchange recipes?

Samo, my mouth is watering from that pic of the Kimchee. LOVE that stuff, my cousins wife is Korean and made a mean batch of it a Christmas.
Lost of homecooking, chicken, pork, pasta. Potatoes, and veggies with meals. We have been busy lately and have opted for some rather unhealty "fast-food" Can't wait ot move into the house and have my OWN kitchen finally. My wife and I love to cook. We Celebrated last weekend with two fo the biggest lobster tails I have ever seen. Take Care!!!

I usually eat out myself, but I'm big with elaborate sandwiches (buttered rye, salad, grilled chicken, cheese, e.t.c.), baked lamb shoulder chops and galicky pasta when I have the time.

Sam, when you say 'move down South' do you mean you are in Singapore? <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Hey Jeff! Your home cookin' makes me drool! I should pay you a visit at Tenessee someday!

Yeah CKE! Kimchee ROCK! I mean, they are good to go with a plate of hot rice! I do pastas sometimes, noodles mainly and stir-fried veges.. Staying away from deep-fried stuff cos they consume too much oil and fat..

Shards ~ I am based in Malacca. Was in Johor Baru for about four months before my transfer to Malacca as station chief..

Samo I like to cook, but only when I have someone to cook for. Luckily I have someone right now, she is real health conscience. I grill all my meats, I am definately a rare red beef eater. Unfortunately she has curtailed that some and made me replace it with lots of fish. I am into experimenting. rico

Hi Rico! Steaks are fine meals! Beer and burger is my favourite. We do have Tex-Mex outlets here like the American Chilli's, and TGI Fridays.. I kinda missed Tony Romas' bbqued baby back ribs! I want my baby back ribs.. my babyback ribs.. *drool..* Oh well, there's nothing like fish dishes too! *heh-heh!*

High Protein, low Carbs. Atkins stuff
Lots of steaks, chicken, pork, fish, cheese,
leafy green veggies, tons of EGGS. Went from 207lbs. to 185 in two months. Holding at 190 for now.

whatever I want, when I want...

Some days my only meal is a foot long sub. Others I'll kill a box of pizza pops for a snack. 75-80% of the time if I'm eating it's vegetarian dishes. My meal in a couple hours(around 8am)?

fried speghetti with an "italian sausage and green pepper" pasta sauce. Add fresh chopped basil and oregano, finely chopped onion, garlic and mushroom. Have about 2 cups of pasta from last night sitting there. also have just over a cup of long grain white rice that I can fry up for a snack.

my 12am snack was a box of pizza pops, 2am was the other 1/2 of the rice, 4am was about 7-8" of a sausage coil.

Working this shift and eating like that I went from 185 to 165lbs, and then packed on more muscle to get to 175 and I'm holding at that. Arms are starting to look good.

Hello all

In the UK tastes are wide and varried! As a "Home Dad" I cook for my family all the time so in that respect I'm responsible for their health.

I try to grill most of my meat using a George Forman grill, beef, lamb, pork, turkey steaks and chicken breasts! It is quick and convenien and most of the fat drains away. Most of our veges are boiled or stir fried, but not too long as this can remove the important vitamins.

During the winter I make huge pans of roasted vegetable soups. Good stodge to keep out the cold. The true sweet taste of the carrots, swede, parsnip and onions comes out when they are roasted in a hot oven for about an hour them made into a soup with some lentils and barley to thicken it. I blend half and leave the rest with chunks then everyone is happy.

My wife is on a constant diet eating only low fat, or no fat food. Even then she joins in when I cook some chicken tikka massala or thai green fish curry with noodles coated in nam pla for friends. I enjoy cooking Asian food, getting the herbs and spices to do the job properly is easy here because I live within easy striking distance of Bradford where there is a large Asian community. Because of the oil (Ghee) used this form of cooking is very high in callories so I don't do it too often.

I also cook Spanish and Portugese food. I enjoy all of the fish dishes but really fresh fish and shellfish is hard to come by in Leeds.

We always have loads of fruit dotted around the house for us to snack on. It is a healthier option than sweets or chocolate for us all.

Ken,

That sounds really good! Your wife and kids are lucky. By the way, I assume that you are talking about South Asian food with regards to the ghee right?

Well... it is hard to replace the flavour, but you could try substituting some neutral tasting vegetable oil and just a bit of the ghee to taste if you are watching the cholesterol.

Over here where I come from, health concerns are making most of us cut back on the good 'ol coconut milk/cream in curry and replace it instead with low fat skim. The ghee/lard pot is also moving towards being filled with monosaturated vege oil. It hurts less than you think and it means you get to eat something nearly as good more often...

After years of slowly gaining, my wife and I went on the South Beach diet. That was back in October. Still on it, and we have cut out potatoes, sugar, "bad" fats, etc. So far I have lost 15 lbs. and 3 belt notches. It is interesting walking through the store and seeing what I can't eat, but I really feel better.

Tonight, friday in lent, will be going to get some ahi sashimi. also setting uop some mama coon's chicken to marinate for a day or two. http://www.sailtrilogy.com/recipe/ I have been streeing with school, I spent 20 in the cad lab in a 3 days span this week and that stuff reminds me of hawaii.

the thing i love most is Mancer's cooking. He is an excellent Chef. He is king at Barbequeing or Braai'ing as they say in South Africa. I myself am Medeteranian so I like to make lasanga whenever I get the chance . <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
