Calypso C54 Re-issue...?

#1

Post by timlara »

Ok...The Calypso Jr. did a limited comeback in grey FRN. Great little knife. Anyone heard any rumors of Spyderco doing a re-issue of the larger C54 Calypso? Or is there a "new and improved" version in the works?

It's hard to believe that the sales were lousy on the big Calypso since I'm having a heckuva time finding one. Did the knife really not sell well? I guess maybe there were just a small number of fanatics who hoarded them all up??

Thoughts?

I think it just had to compete too much w/the Endura, which was much cheaper, lighter, grippier, and had more edge choices(PE,CE,SE). I like micarta, but I'd consider it more of a dress knife material than a worker.

I picked up a plain edge a couple of weeks ago. It is a great dress knife, if you don't want it to show it is light enough to slip in a pocket and forget about.

It is funny that at the same time I bought it I bought a Military. I have yet to cut anything with the Cal. but have used and abused the milie almost everyday.
