I guess I'm not so eccentric after all.

Prior to finding this forum I considered myself to be somewhat eccentric(a notion continually reinforced by my wife). After all, what would a sane, self-respecting 39 year-old father of two need with a closet full of folding knives? Another of my odd traits is a love of scale modeling. I saw in a recent thread that Deacon has this affliction also. My question is,aside from knife collecting, what other eccentricities/hobbies/perversions do you engage in?

Hi JRH and welcome!

Hobbies/addictions: (Other than Sypdies)--collecting old Gerber Paul Knives, as much summer Fly Fishing as I can do in Colorado and Oregon, trying to grow and train Bonsai trees (I kill more than I save) and finding bargains on mint-state Morgan Silver Dollars.

Perversions: another story.

Collect Spydercos, Make knives, Collect older cameras, rocks, minerals, meteorites, fossils, Japanese Higonokami knives, smaller diecast cars, and whatever else catches my fancy. Some people collect stuff, and some people really collect stuff.

Collecting <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>cos, a little fishing, understanding roof-top gardening theory, some photography, cooking good stick-to-your-ribs food, going for long walks.

Aloha and welcome!

As for me...

Airsoft simulated training(shotgun and G18C. My next door neighbor actually moved because the "sight" of me engaging "human targets" bothered her. A problem which could have been easily remedied...Don't look in my yard!

Engaging in CQC on my foam wrapped laundry pole. I guess people are used to seeing someone hit a punching bag. The "feel" is there when delivering a kick, as the foam simulates muscle and the pole reflects the bone...A definite accuracy builder. Not only w/ empty hand, but w/ impact weapons as well. Still trying to find the perfect PEN for this...Yes, a writing pen, due to my occupation.

Playing the Cult song "She sells Sanctuary" over and over on my electric guitar as loud as possible...for maybe up to an hour at a time. Just DO NOT get tired of this song!?

Starting and ending my day w/ God. Personally do not know many people who do this.

Dreaming of a FRN Worker in 50/50, flat grind...

God will put you over...if you let Him! Mark 11:23!

Besides collecting Spydies, I (try to) collect knives in general.
Another eccentric hobby is collecting pre 1940 copies of the books 'Faust' and 'Die Leiden des Jungen Werthers' of the famous German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Howdy JRH, nice to have ya around.

Other than knives, I spend my time with my family (2y.o. son is an awesome, joyous handfull), and I am getting into hunting and shooting more. I have always enjoyed fishing, but don't go near enough. I also stay busy between church stuff and my in-laws farm, both are great therapy.

Like Daywalker, I make it a point to put God first in front of all these things.

Life is so full of things that are interesting and things that attract my attention. Being a Gemini, I tend to swirl from one subject to an other. Knives and especially Spyderco has been around for 15 years now. Other things I like are: cars, racing bycicles, Fly rods and stuff, pens and Casio G-Force watches, (power) tools, good food and a great love of mine, Western stuff.

Clipits work!
