Ever carry "something else" as EDC?

#1

Post by AllenETreat »

Believe me, I LOVE Spydies!

But, as a change, am carrying a Buck JUNO

( a "wannabe" IMO ) Or, how 'bout the "traditional" ( as in not "tactical" )

knife with a "nail nick" ( instead of hole or stud ) and no clip?

I know, I know, just call me a "dinosaur".

What say the augurers?

I always have my Calypso Jr. in my right-front pocket. But usually something BIGGER in my back pocket. If not a Millie, then a Strider AR, Emerson Commander, and lately, a BM ARES or Emerson CQC8

I like carrying my stag handled Case Barlow in addition to my spydies.

You bet. I carry a Kershaw Chive or Kershaw 2415 linerlock from time to time. The Chive is one cool little knife.

Prior to getting my Harpy, I carried a CRKT Wasp (another exception to my objection to smaller blades) or a Cold Steel El Vaquero. Oh, and briefly a CS Triple Action Spearpoint, though I found that somewhat unsuitable for EDC. Just a little too threatening, methinks.

I know that I'll have rocks thrown at me, but I no-longer carry my Spydies as my EDC's...I now carry a Benchmade 805 and a Benchmade 705 as my 2 EDC's.

...If only Spyderco would have made more "lefty-friendly" folders with G-10 scales and dual stainless liners...

I only believe in carrying the best money can buy, the materials must be cutting edge and able to survive anything thrown at it.
After all thats why I no longer get Gerber (their support treated me like a number 2 often as well), Spyderco all the way.

Other EDC tool I will only rely on other than my Spydies is my Glock 21, the best made knife on the planet tag teaming with the best made firearms.

Sometimes I like carrying my Benchmade 722 (I think thats the model number) Mel Pardue PE tanto point. The knife has got a good solid feel to it.

Well they're still Spyderco but Allen mentioned nail nicks and no clips, so I sometimes carry my large and small Sakai Backpackers as such.

Leatherman PST on belt is an EDC (can't do without pliers!). Sometimes have a SAK. When doing a respectable job there is a Swisscard in my case.

I always carry at least two Spydercos. (Lately it's been two Militarys) I also carry a Gerber Multitool and will sometimes add a SAK.

Since I got my first Gunting, it has been my EDC. Nothing else has taken its place, except that I now have several, so it may not be the same one all the time. I bought a Dodo in anticipation of travel to places where the Gunting's blade is too long to be legal.

I always have at least one Spyderco on me (a Native or a Dodo).

In addition, my EDC consists of a Strider GB (one of the toughest folders on the planet), and often a Strider fixed blade.

Last week, I got an Al Mar Shrike through a trade and I'm REALLY impressed with this blade. I've been carrying it for non-work EDC since my job environment can get pretty dirty/dusty at times. However, I do still carry at least one on me at all times, usually the SS Cricket SE.

My work EDC is my 440V CE Millie, and I'll occasionally carry my S30V Military, but the Shrike has my attention right now. If it didn't have that VG10 steel blade, though, that would be a different story....
