Mario, we've been friends for many years and I feel confident that us discussing this subject will never change that so with that said, I have to respectfuly dissagree on this subject with you.
Aproperly waved knife has NO equal in speed of deployment simply because it totally removes 1 complete movement, the opening.
With a wave the draw IS the opening, mind you that I was a hard convert to this skill,
I had thought for a long time that I was fast with most knives especially s, but give me 1 hr in my shop and that same turns into a blur from pocket to cut/stab.
#1- IMO if you've already made the descion to engage with a knife said attacker has show you no retreat, no avenue of civily ending the situation.
#2- Given that, my objective is to disable my attacker as fast as humanely as possible.
#3-In a perfect world I'd prefer if it had proceeded to this point to draw into a quick wrist/forearm slash to the weapon holding limb, severing tendons usually = end of conflict.
#4-I believe that if you are pushed past step 1 the legalities are already set in stone anyway and I much prefer a night in jail to a trip to the county morgue.
All this is just my opinion based on my training and mind set.
As I said much earlier if I could escape the situation from talking my way out of it or maybe loosing a few bucks (especially with family caught in the mess too) what is 25.00 30.00 bucks worth anyway?
And credit cards can be canceled and replaced.
And alone I can run pretty fast for an old guy . Ron
