CO1...Who else loves the Worker?

Aloha all!

While checking through my Spyder collection I'm always playing w/ my PE Worker more than others. It brings back fond memories of comments like, "What the **** happenend to your knife?" (Wish I had my Diver back then!)It had a short EDC life span as I think it's a 1stGen Worker so it lives w/ my collection. While it did accompany me, it did what it's named, but I was always very careful w/ the tip. The top of the swedge came kinda sharp, and I sometimes found myself using the top as well.

Anyway, I held up a closed delica alongside the opened worker handle and it looks great! from the comments I got while I carried the Worker shows that buying this model comes from "within" and not "without". I love the Worker and would definitely purchase a few if it came out in FRN...

Anyone else had a past "fling" w/ the worker and feel like I do?

I start interested with Spyderco when I saw Worker in a magazine add. But sadly, 'till today, I did'nt own any Worker cause I'm interested with a PE only. At the time it was available, I can't afford it. Still looking around for a PE Worker.

I do. Here's a picture of a battered old Worker that I was given by a mate. I polished it up and had a "Chai" engraved on it in memory of the late James Mattis. The old hands will remember James from this forum and Bladeforums. He was one of nature's true gentlemen and the first person to give me advice way back in the days of recdotknives.com. Does anyone here remember that place?

I have a few. It still stands up to most of the models that followed. I think we have to remember that this is the knife that started it all!

G'Day Clay! Yeah, Jim has a great collection of Spydies and images of them which made really good reference stuff! Picked up my 2-screw worker while I was in Golden! What pleasant memories! Any <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>-nut would agree that their collection won't be complete without a C-01! <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I don't know what era my PE Worker came from. It came in blue packaging similar to the box my Executive came with.

I always thought the swedge was sharpened enough to cut string (I read something somewhere to that effect). However, the swedge on mine (NIB) is obviously not factory sharpened. What's the scoop on this aspect? Were some factory sharpened and some not? Production dates? Thanks.

If I had one I am sure it would be a great memory maker. Untill then I'll keep on looking!

Qustion: Many years ago I had a PE Worker. I sold it and got into some newer models. A while back I bought a the Commerative PE Worker. This one seems to have a thicker blade than the original. Is this correct or is my wrong.

Aloha all! Whoa...was I shocked to see this post up top! Glad there's a small following of devoted worker lovers... Thought it was the ugliest knife I ever owned...until I got my Toad that is!
Just wish they made a Worker in FRN...stainless kinda weighs down the surf shorts, and lava rock or exposed reef is MERCILESS to SS...sigh.

I love the C01 too. From all the variations I've seen, I like the blue G-10 Worker the most (yes, it exists) <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I picked up a PE non-chamfered worker that I believe is a left handed knife, it has three screws in the clip also without a laynard hole. Used but solid and locks tight.

Aloha Rumple and welcome!

Sounds like an interesting piece ya got there...any chance of a photo? Is the clip on the other side?

Clip is on other side, first try at a pic, had to scan the knife (still shopping for a digital camera) The knife is better looking than it appears on the pic

I finally picked up my first worker! I found a C01S coated in black. definatly not a EDC knife. It is a great looking knife, I like it so much I ordered a gold plated one from John.
