My feeling would be that, if you live near the seacoast or where salt is used on the roads in winter, or use you knife around other corrosive material, then the Salt has a decided advantage, unless you absolutely require the more pointed blade of the Delica. For everyone else it becomes a matter of taste. Between the salt resistance (long snowy winters here) and the more "sheeple friendly" appearance (work in a very PC government office) of the Salt's "sheepsfoot with some belly" style blade, I would personally prefer it over the Delica for EDC.

a question much on my mind lately!
I have both and have been carrying the Salt (PE) lately. Haven't done a lot of cutting so can't comment on edge retention, but to say it's still sharp <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
The handle is identical, the cutting edge is identical, but there are 2 things I really like about the Salt blade. The rounded tip is a great feature if you are worried about either tip strength or accidental punctures from the much pointier Delica. I work a lot with my dogs and sometimes have to cut a line or harness with dog body close by. I could use a rescue, but I much prefer PE because the ropes I work with (multistranded poly) are prone to snag and drag instead of cleanly cutting with SE. I also really like the larger opening hole on the Salt, which is accomodate by the wider blade, and the thumb ridges (or whatever they are called) right behind the hole.
The Delica has been my EDC for years, it's a great knife and a keeper, but I think I like the blade on the Salt better!!

I just picked up a Salt I PE this week and much prefer it to the Delica. I don't know how the HI steel will hold an edge, but so far it seems to be doing fine. I prefer the blunter tip, and the larger opening hole and ridges on the back of the hump are very nice.
I would love one of these with a VG10 blade and a CE option!
