Actually the potential for getting a mostly Salt-ish Manix LW may be getting very close now with this. It'll depend on the rest of the hardware and obviously if they use yellow.
I have taken my S110V Manix LW swimming in the Atlantic on multiple occasions with only a hint of rust from between the scales and lock housing back spacer.
The ball still looks shiny and no other rust appeared except for in the corners of the plunge grind of the blade after it wasn’t rinsed thoroughly once.

Well you know how it goes, somebody will find a way to rust even MagnaCut I'm sure. I've even had S90V speckle on me but never S110V and I've carried it quite a bit. I don't play in the ocean though, just rain/humidity and all seasons.
my friend carried an s30v manix xl in the ocean and let it sit and rust for a couple weeks. i was able to clean it up for him almost as good as new. s30v really surprised me that day, but that doesn't mean i want to have to deal with it again. most stainless steels might handle the environment good enough, but still require more care.
and, assuming magnacut is as good as the charts suggest, it's more stainless than s110v while also having the toughness of a tool steel. if edge retention is more important than toughness to you, s110v is probably the better choice. personally, i prefer toughness in a blade i plan to really use because i prefer ease of sharpening, ease of edge repair, and an edge that is more stable.

The most important part of that statement was left out though...was it a G10 or LW model. Maybe a Micarta handle??
i'm guessing the sample was g10, but the production will be lw. i really want this one in g10, but i'm afraid to get my hopes up. the spy27 only came out in lw so far.
red is already taken by the dlt? 20cv version. mine will get aftermarket micarta scales regardless, so it doesn't matter to me what color they choose.

I am afraid (for you) that you´re right.
I guess IF Spyderco invested in and has the FRN/FRCP molds already for a model (like it is with the Manix 2 LW), it makes sense for them to use this opportunity.
And since Sal said "production sample" probably even the one Eric carried was an LW already?
That being said: Though I am certainly more of an LW / FRN/FRCP guy, I would not be opposed at all to trying this version in G10.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
don't get me wrong... i love my lightweight manix. i just want a g10 version and it would be nice to get it in magnacut or spy27 instead of s30v. i'd still buy a m2lw in magnacut.

Pretty much the same here - love the LW, but want to try a G10 Manix and Magnacut would be great for that.
/ I think we´ve maybe discussed this somewhere else already (?), but in any case I don´t want the heavier weight of the S30V G10 Manix (though I really like the steel).

yeah, we've discussed weight before. i do like how light the lw manix is, but in the clothing i typically wear, the weight difference is basically negligible. my main edc knives are all around 5 ounces except for the manix and i can't really tell that they weigh any more in pocket.
i think bulk is more important than weight for me. my 4max scout weighs 10 ounces, which is undeniably heavy for a pocket knife, but even then the weight is less of an issue than the bulk for me. it's a much thicker hulk of a knife than anything i have from spyderco and i feel it's size in my pocket.
maybe a better example of this is the difference between the m2lw and the delica. the delica is only 1/2 ounce lighter, but it's a considerably smaller package and disappears in my pocket compared to my manix. the difference in bulk between the two knives is more consequential than the difference in weight.
for edc, i prefer the size of the manix, pacific salt, yojimbo, caribbean, and even resilience. the range of weights in those knives (3 - 5 ounces) are negligible to me, even between the lw and g10 versions.
caveat... obviously, if i was wearing thin, lightweight hiking clothing or suits every day, my perception would probably be different. i wear thicker pants and shorts for my work and adventuring.
