New Standard G-10 Sal?

#1

Post by Michael »

Hi Sal,

Is Spyderco going to come out with a new Standard G-10 and if so can you tell me when? Why did they discontinue the Standard?

Thanks,

Hi Michael. The G10 Standard was an experiment. Sales were not sufficient to maintain the model.

When we come out with new models, some of the old ones have to go to make room. We drop models every year, as do most companies.

There are still a few G10 standards out there. But I imagine they will be slowly disappearing.

Hi Sal,

Thanks Sal. That makes sense. Why do you think that sales were not sufficient for the G10 Standard?

Is there another model with around a 3" blade you would recommend for my first Spydie? I want to use as an all around every day carry.

Thanks,
Michael

Blade around 3", Native, Deica, or Calypso Jr. are good places to start.

I have to agree with them. I think a Native would be a perfect all around first Spyderco knife. I really like mine.

So are you saying I should get either the Native, Delica or Calypso Jr. instead of the G-10 Standard I saw in the store? If so why?

Thanks for all your help <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
