Native 5 Scale Swap

Very successful little project today: Dyed scales of Native 5 Magnacut Salt burgundy. Received a Stormtrooper today (Rex 45 black blade, white scales) that was a dirty mess with a chipped tip and poor sharpening job. Had fun using my new Gunny Juice after fixing the blade tip, then swapped blades and back-locks to get a couple of knives I like better. Oddly, by pure chance, both now have better action and centering.

Dyed the yellow scales in Scarlet, but might have added some Racing Red - I tend to leave things in, pull out and adjust colors. I wish I had a big pile of various-colored scraps of different materials to practice on and log the results.

Turned out great!

I know the molded backspacer makes it hard to hit the required tolerances, but man…. I really hope someone comes out with some nice aftermarket scales for the Native 5 LW/Salt at some point.

That's actually a white handle...but light blue sounds good!
I appreciate the encouragement from everyone. Leaving for two weeks of hiking and roaming around SW Colorado in a few days, and these will be my EDCs - looking forward to comparing Rex 45 and Magnacut.

Very nice! I kinda like the light blue with black hardware. I did something similar with my N5 Spy27 and MagnaCut. I dyed the yellow N5Salt scales OD green and swapped the stainless hardware from the Spy27 onto it.
