The M2 or the Sage 5.

LOL Yes, I think it is. It was ordered from Knife Works. How did you know?Manixguy@1994 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 11:12 pmLet me guess , the Sage is coming from the state of Louisiana?MG2
That is encouraging to know. The Sage will be my 2nd light weight. The size seems to be close to the Para 3.
The KW picture . I have bought knives from them for a long time . Hope you like the knife , I have looked at them several times .MG2mongo1958 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 6:33 amLOL Yes, I think it is. The Para was my first Spyderco. The PM2 was my second. I like them both but favor the Para 3 a bit more. I will be happy If the Sage can measure up to the Para 3.Wartstein wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 7:14 am
Sir, you are making good decisions lately !![]()
The Sage LW is actually the only comp.lock folder that interests me at the moment. Very cool and clever design!
And yes, pretty similar to a Para 3 in dimensions (just by the given specs an just a tad smaller package, but probably not really noticeable) - but from what I can see a better design.
I think one can see that the Sage was developed from scratch as a perfect small folder in all aspects, while the Para 3 tries to be a smaller PM2, but adopts features of its bigger sibling that are suited for the PM2, but perhaps not so much for the smaller Para 3
So, again: Great choice imo! Curious how you´ll like it!

The Sage 5 is a light knife and it is small compared to the Manix 2. The blade pivot is like it is on ball bearings. Deploying the blade is very snappy and it is so fast that it seems like it has a spring assist
. When the blade is unlocked, it drops with out any resistance at all.
Fit, form, and finish are great. I like the texture of the scales better than the Manix 2.
The sharpened beveled edge of the blade is even on both sides and when closed the blade is centered. The Sage is not as sharp as the Manix 2 but it is about as sharp as my Para 3 with the 110 steel.
I can get 2 solid grips in this knife, one that chokes up with my thumb riding on top of the blade, the other further down the handle with all my fingers comfortably on the handle and my thumb on the spine of the handle. The clip does not interfere with any position that I grip the knife, I like the clip and it works well.
This is a nit picky thing here but I'd like the scales to be a little thicker.
The Sage 5 is an awesome knife.
It would probably be a better to compare the Para 3 lightweight to the Sage 5 lightweight.Wartstein wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 12:21 ammongo1958 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 12:08 amOH MY GOSH! Glad you like it! I really must get one myself too (again, you are the "new to the forum but still already professional enabler" - guy)
And I´d be interested how it compares to the Para 3 for you now that you have both. As said already, I think one can see that the Sage 5 was designed from scratch as a perfect small folder, while the Para 3 suffers a tiny bit from being a "shrunken PM2" (thick blade stock, handle not optimized to get a good four finger grip behind the choil due to that restricting "beak" at the handle end while the Sage is flat there)
