That's very sad news, Sal.

Mike was one of the pioneers of making custom Kydex sheaths and holsters and one of the true masters of that craft. He was also an avid practitioner of MBC, a veteran of James Keating's Riddle of Steel and Martial Blade Camp, and the inventor of the G-Clip. He was truly one of a kind...

Rest in peace, Mike.

Stay safe,

Mike

Always sad to see people go. Good to know he had a great influence on so many.

I emailed him a while back at his River City Sheaths site. This was within the past year. He was kind enough to send me a response, despite not being able to fulfill my request. What a legend in the blade community.

I had not talked to Mike Sastre in the past year or so. I bought a few items from him. I met him at a knife show in Grapevine TX in 2002 I think it was. He was one of the only guys that had a neck sheath for the Dodo model.

There are so many people I know that are checking out of the planet in the past two years. I truly wish his family a friends my sincere condolences. The guy was really likable and knowledgable. He sure knew his cutlery.
