Howdy fellow addicts.. er, I mean enthusiasts

Hello forum,

I'm new here, but have already jumped into the SpydiePool, so to speak. I became interested (again) in knives this past May, and have acquired 22 Spydercos in the months since, (mostly Golden models).

Yep, I'm hooked good n deep. It's really nice to have a dedicated forum for the brand here... and I look forward to learning from y'all. ;)

Welcome to the forum! It looks like you have fallen pretty deap. There is a support group that meets on Thursdays. If you find yourself itching for a spydie flicking, then come on over and we can spray water on you.

Thanks! I like all the models I've acquired pretty well, so it's tough to pick a clear favorite. :thinking

With that said; my favorite larger Sypderco is the YoJumbo, (better action than any other larger model I've tried), and my favorite mid-sized model is the PM2, (specifically the CSI exclusive Wharncliffe version).

I've got so many that I really really enjoy, so that's a tough call.

However, even though they're far from the most fancy models I have, my most pragmatic day-to-day carry would be my Siren as a main, general cutter... and either my YoJumbo or SE Shaman as back up.

That many new knives in just 6 months, I'd take my time to get familiar with each model, find what you like and what works for you, what doesn't. Will really help you when determining what you'd be looking for next. If not skilled in sharpening, now would also be a good time to look into that.

Thanks for reminding me to “stop and cut with the steel”. It’s good advice. I’ve definitely slowed down my rate of acquisition, since I’ve got most of the models which I was initially interested in. I’ll have to post a collection pic later.

I’m also beginning to get halfway decent at sharpening, (recently put a great edge on my Siren)… with a guided system, anyway.

Next, I need to get a Sharpmaker, and learn how to sharpen serrations.

Howdy, Sal!

I haven’t seen your name since the last time I used today’s carry knife, (a SE Shaman). This thing’s a pit bull of a knife, love it for general cutting.

Anyway, thanks for, well, your entire professional life’s work! You guys revolutionized the industry in a lot of ways, (and will continue to do so, I expect), and I really appreciate that!
