Think I finally found an image of it. Not sure what type of lock it uses though…

I swore I wouldn’t buy another knife until this one is released.
I’ve only bought 4 spydies so… close enough.

There's probably already a name for this model, but in light of recent events, I think it should be renamed the Trevor.

I'm hoping that the BBB/Spyderco folder is a new model.

The announcement of a 15V Manix with a Shawn Houston heat treat has me worried that there will be no new model.

Can anyone confirm or deny?
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

It has been discussed on page 7 of this thread that the BBB collaboration folder was a liner lock, which the Manix 2 certainly is not:

It was in the prototype display at blade show. That is all I remember though.
I saw it there as well. It was a linerlock with a micarta (?) handle. I didn't ask to handle it.

Perhaps this is a teaser and hint that the BBB collab will indeed be 15V and is a taste for ELU usage so Spyderco/Shawn can get feedback before they pull the trigger and release their knife to a lukewarm market, if 15V in this Manix is sourly received.

Patience seems beyond virtue amongst the lot these days.

Edit to add quotes for reference.

I would think only he or Spyderco could.

I will probably get that Manix 2 just to try out the steel, but I'm hopeful that it at least makes it's way into other models, if not a full on new collaboration model.

Maybe the knife from Shawn Houston should be called “Problem” and when someone asks “Do you have a problem” you say, “Yes, it’s quite lovely and sharp”

The 15V Manix 2 is only a heat treat collaboration, not a design collaboration.

This 15V Manix 2 is not the BBB design collab we’ve been hearing about. Spyderco is still producing an actual design collaboration with Shawn Houston as well. It will also use 15V steel and his proprietary heat treat method.

This isn’t some top secret mystery. They’ve literally displayed the BBB collaboration model in their prototype case at trade shows. It’s just in a long production queue because it’s slated for production in Golden.

Nah, depending on its size it should be named Papa/Big-, Mama- or Baby Brown Bear.
Beyond being objectively good names, it immediately opens the door to a small family of great cutting tools

In that scenario… BBB could be, Big Brown Bear or Baby Brown Bear and the “Brown Bear” as the regular model? I like the goldilocks theme, momma, poppa and baby.

It must be only one or two reveals away. I am also not planning to buy anything until this drops sometime next year.

Thanks Mushroom, I guess I did read at some point about it being displayed at Blade.

Sorry folks, guess I just lost track! :woozy
