Swick in the wild!
814 days and it's finally here!

Those scales look different than what the product photos have shown. The product photos almost look 3D printed, so it makes me wonder if the photos are just of a prototype.

How are the scales attached? It looks like they're not removable?

The product page says "concealed internal pins secure a pair of peel-ply-textured scales to the handle."

Looks like all Swick 5 & 6 models will finally ship to dealers as soon as August 2022 per Spyderco byte July 2022:

“Due to unforeseen challenges, the release of the Swick 5 and 6, which were unveiled in Reveal 5 [May 5, 2020], have been delayed for quite some time. We are finally pleased to announce that initial production of the Swick 6 will be shipping in early August. We are also working hard to follow that with the Swick 5. As always, we appreciate your patience and continued interest in our products.”

:grin-sweat I'll disappear from this thread until the next version comes along. No guarantees it'll be PlainEdge though.

Haha I'm just having some fun. I may have ordered a SE as it is ;) Looking forward to writing an "observations" thread about this model.

I purposefully didn't use a title that you might normally use when i made my thread. Because I'm looking forward to yours.

Ok, i lied... I forgot about SFO. Our hosts should get an alert every new release. I am going to make one more Swick5 SpyderEdge alert when they show up at SFO. That is, if I'm first to see it. And then I'll go dark until the next version. Starting now.

Based on Spyderco byte July 2022, I’m assuming Swick 6 has by now shipped to dealers and we should see them soon:

Hi Vivi---

Looking forward to your "observations" on your Swick 5. Anybody else who cares to share, too.I was going to select the Swick 6 as the smaller hole appears to be the same size as other preceding models. As it is a different size than the Swick 5 and hasn't shipped yet, I'm assuming there is still an issue with the sheath. Perhaps Sal can weigh in on this.

I'm still holding out for PE, however long that may be. Shame I fell out of love with SE and that's the only Swick that'll be out for a while. But I carried a full SE Pacific a few days while thinking it over and I really didn't care for the cutting action vs coarse PE...

I definitely wonder why after a 2.5 year wait the SE was ready months ago but the PE are not. Hasn't been a fun wait but in the end it'll be worth it. Dream knife come true for me.
