Who else is looking forward to the K390 SE Endura?
Re: Who else is looking forward to the K390 SE Endura?
On the Spyderco website both Endura4 & Police4 K390 SpyderEdge folders have 3mm (0.118”) blade thicknesses.

I believe the Endura is still just PlainEdge with a SpyderEdge picture.
Edit for clarity: Just mentioning it so nobody accidentally makes a purchase based off the picture.

The Stretch XL in K390 will be my first K390 blade when it comes out.

Interesting. That is exactly where I saw that the P4 was thinner. Not sure how or why, but that number does now say 3.0 mm for the P4.RamZar wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 3:41 pmOn the Spyderco website both Endura4 & Police4 K390 SpyderEdge folders have 3mm (0.118”) blade thicknesses.

Yes. I guess Spyderco is a little behind in updating that page for Endura4 K390 SpyderEdge FRN.
I checked Reveal 7 Page 5 and Endura4 K390 SpyderEdge FRN is listed with a blade thickness of 0.118” (3mm).

I checked Reveal 8 Page 12 and Police4 K390 SpyderEdge FRN is listed with a blade thickness of 0.118” (3mm).

Re: Who else is looking forward to the K390 SE Endura?
I don't have a Police, but just by the specs on the Spyderco site both have 3mm blade stock - ?
I almost can't imagine that Spyderco would start out with 3mm steel slabs on Endela, Endura, Stretch but go to 2.8 with the Police?
But as said: Can't measure this myself and of course have to believe those who can.
EDIT: I somehow missed page 3 of this thread before I replied, my apologies for the repetition of what's been said already.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)

Re: Who else is looking forward to the K390 SE Endura?
I think I got P4 2.8mm spec from a dealer site. Thanks for the correction, I should have gone to the horse's mouth.
Re: Who else is looking forward to the K390 SE Endura?
Well, perhaps it's that dealer who measured more exactly? And perhaps Police and maybe also Endura, Stretch, Endela do have 2.8mm blade stock but Spyderco rounds ut up to 3 for practical reasons?

Re: Who else is looking forward to the K390 SE Endura?
The blade on the Police 4 is taller and therefore the primary grind is more acute and slicey. If you measure the thickness of a Police 4 blade at the height of an Endura blade it is actually a bit under 2.8mm.

Certainly. I do respect the police I just think adding another half inch to the blade is unnecessary compared to the original police. I can work with 4" but 4.4" is a deal killer!on_the_edge wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 6:02 amI guess we will have to agree to disagree. The P4 is larger and as I said, may be too large for many. However, it has other attributes that IMHO make it better than the Endura if its size is not an issue. To each his own.Brotherscinc0 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 4:08 amThe police 4 is just comically huge. I'm already known as the "knife guy" and having a monster like that in my pocket would just be ridiculous. The endura is plenty enough and very ergonomicon_the_edge wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 9:51 amYou can have a little more plain edge at the tip with the Police 4 LW K390 SE. More blade length, edge length, thinner blade stock, and finger choil to choke up on if you need to with the Police 4. IDK. At least for me, I am not sure what the attraction is of an Endura over the P4, unless maybe size is an issue.Brotherscinc0 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 7:08 amI actually would prefer a little more plain edge towards the tip. I find combo edge most useful, but something like a 1/3 plain edge would be nice
I ended up using the endura to cut at least a few dozen linear feet of cardboard today and it performed exceptionally. The edge doesn't necessarily feel any duller but it almost feels more toothy. Maybe more carbides have been exposed by the abrasive cardboard?
