My old C-60 Ayoobs models from the early 2000s were all "VG-10 Japan" and so was the 2011 Sprint run as well. So I think there might be something to that assertion that the maker simply uses "JAPAN" instead of "Seki City".

From a collector's standpoint I can see where that might be an issue. But as long as this new one is fully functional I'll be happy as a well fed clam.

Markings aside, the Moki made knives I've handled have had much better fit and finish.

Yeah that's kind of been my own experience as well. However there were a couple of the G-Sakai made Spyders that I really liked. I heard that was who made their old MARINER model>> and for a stainless handled knife I still think it was carefully crafted.

Even though I tend to like the GOLDEN, CO USA Earth models the best I must say that the Japan made Spyders are a close second IMO. And you're right it seems the "Moki" models are the Creme de le Creme of the Japanese line up. The quality is so close when you compare the two sources.

But seriously are these things selling out as fast as they get them? Or are the dealers only getting like maybe one dozen or so?

Most of the dealers so far have probably put up less than a handful of each. I think M&D showed 4 of each when I saw them. The Premier dealer shipments go out with the Collectors Club knives and is usually a very small quantity to each Premier dealer. Larger quantities are coming and they will start staying in stock longer. Hang in there JD... Just keep an eye on this thread and the magic will happen.

Well thank you for the timely information. I'm wondering just how many they made in total? I haven't heard any numbers yet. I'm sure they made more PE than they did SE and that is to be expected. I would be surprised if it wasn't.

Kind of takes me back to the 1970s before the internet and when if you wanted to get tickets to a great rock concert you had to camp out overnight sometimes. I vividly remember camping out overnight to get Led Zeppelin Tickets in their 1977 tour. Yeah those tickets were hard to get as well. And these C-60 Ayoob Sprints are like getting Led Zeppelin Tickets. I just hope they open the gates soon. :thinking

so... this came today.

and... i had every intention of not being picky about the serrations being perfect. however, what in the world is going on here, spyderco? Image

i expected better coming direct from spyderco.

Huh, that's odd.
Looks like the end of the grind wheel happened right there?

it's a weird hiccup. it kind of looks like the grind should've been continued at the same angle and it would've been fine. it looks like maybe the serrations are right and the pe portion is wrong.

Really weird.
I am imagining something like this on the wheel profile |\_/\_/\_/| where the | are where things are to line up for the next portion of the grind. /\_/|\_/\_/| They just didnt get the wheel to finish in the middle of the wheel at the end so that the edge didnt show if that makes sense?

PE seems sold out SE still available at this time
This bad boy sure seems to be selling awfully fast. Especially with all the predictions I heard to the contrary. And with all the fanfare we had on this thread I have no doubt that both PE & SE will both sell out completely.

I can't wait to test drive the new SE blade. I called New Graham and one other dealer today and both said they were not getting any till this coming Monday (08-15-22). This is strange that just a trickle of them are hitting the market. Or is that what they do with Sprint Runs?
