Stretch 2 XL lightweight wharncliffe???
Stretch 2 XL lightweight wharncliffe???
Can the stretch 2 XL lightweight be a format for other blade styles? The one it has is about perfect, but what other blade shapes will work?

Re: Stretch 2 XL lightweight wharncliffe???
looking at the blade shape and how it sits in the handle, i'm not sure you could do a wharncliffe without having a less than optimal blade angle for a wharncliffe.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

It is clearly optimized for that blade shape. Perhaps a modified version for a wharnie? Perhaps a tanto would be better than the wharnie

I definitely would not be opposed to a Wharnie but beyond my pay scale if the blade would be feasible. I hope the Stretch XL has a long journey, really like the knife . Dan

The Delica and Endura handles were surely not designed with a wharncliffe blade style in mind, but boy it certainly did work.

Serious question: Those of you who like Wharncliffes, and it appears to be a lot of you, what do you especially like about them? As in, what are they better for compared to another blade shape?
Re: Stretch 2 XL lightweight wharncliffe???
For me, more powerful cutting at the tip. If you need to dig in, your wrist is in a better position than having to twist your wrist to get the tip angled right. Light work, opening a package you can see the difference in the position of your wrist, but you don't need a lot of power, so it doesn't make much of a difference. More heavier cuts it is just more comfortable and you lose no power in your motion at the tip. Think of a utility blade and how you use it.
I like to have my Rock Jumper on me when I am working on renovation projects along with a model with belly for versatility. I do prefer to have slight belly on my EDC blade though.

Thanks, makes sense. And didn't mean to hijack the thread!JSumm wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 12:51 pmFor me, more powerful cutting at the tip. I think it will be a while, but, based on no knowledge whatsoever, I would predict it will happen.
