What percentage of your knives are spyderco?

#1

Post by sethwm »

For me ignoring kitchen knives and food utensils, about 90% of mine are spyderco. I think about this sometimes and wonder if I’m just a fanboy, but I’ve had dozens of non spyderco knives and either just don’t like the way they feel or perform, or think they look too tacticool. And sold them off except for a small handful that I hardly carry despite holding onto them.

Probably 98% or something. I haven't bought anything from other brands in many years. Not a fanboy, I just know what I like. If other brands would make knives the way I want them, they'd get my money. One of the biggest reasons I don't buy 99% of other brands is because of the sharpening notch/choil trend, everyone is doing it and I absolutely hate it and refuse to buy anything that has one. I even have some Spydercos I don't use anymore because of them (Southard). Also nobody else seems to understand serrations like Spyderco.

More than 50 percent. The rest of the pie is shared by Benchmade, ZT, Kershaw, Lionsteel, Cold Steel, CRK, Bark River and others.

Being on this forum regularly has influenced my purchasing habits. It's much easier to get excited about a new Spyderco release because forum members are talking about it. I still buy other brands though if they offer something novel or useful, like a new locking mechanism or a very appealing design.

About 75% for me. Before discovering the forum, it was probably 40%. So I think the lesson is, Spyderco should put a forum welcome pack in each new Spyderco box.

I would have to say somewhere in the 80% range . The next in collection would be Benchmade in folders . All but two fixed blades are customs . I will definitely agree the Forum information pertaining to different knives does have an impact at times . Dan

Maybe 50-60%. Most of the non Spydercos are fixed blades from various makers, mostly custom makers.

Honestly? Probably 10%, maybe 15% at most. That's better than it sounds, I have an enormous accumulation of knives.

65% for me. This forum is oddly responsible for when I had 100% Spyderco, but also the reason it's fallen to 65% at this time. That Others thread is a real doozy!

Fixed Blades - around 20%
So many knives - so little funds!!!

Of my kitchen knives, the only Spydie is a Mule.

Of the knives I carry, all of them are Spydies.
Of the knives that are stuffed away in a closet someplace, none are Spydies.
