My G10 Native 5, with some flowers on my Jacaranda tree. I bought the N5 over 4 years ago, but never really warmed up to the design. So I decided to bring it out again, really start using it, and give it a fair chance. I'm actually liking it more now than when I first got it.

I agree, always fun to give a model a try that you kind of let slip by in the past, even when already owning it! I'd love for a linered, G10 Native...a model I've never had!

Yes, that is the Manzanita. It think it is considered more of a shrub, although it can get quite large and thick. Madrone is the tree version of the Manzanita. They share some characteristics, including fire resistance.

Well, as I (and others, which I always enjoy!) sometimes do in this particular thread a bit more background info:

As kind of a sidejob I sometimes work for mountain shelters / huts - carrying supplies to up there or unloading such from helicopters and storing it (the supplies, not the helicopter.. ;) ), making firewood, and so on (actually I love that kind of work, and so I don´t take money for it, but just free meals and drinks and sometimes accommodation over night).

This particular hut (Zeppezauerhaus) is the easiest to work for by far: It is situated on the Untersberg, a mountain very close to my hometown and a cablecar goes up to one of the peaks of the mountain (for those who might be interested, here are a short tourist info vid and an info link about that:

https://youtu.be/QYnwm5IQ7iA

https://www.salzburg.info/en/salzburg/g ... untersberg).

The hut is a bit further down the mountain and has a small goods cable lift itself.
So supplies have to be hauled just a short stretch from the top station of the main cable car to the top station of the small cable lift, and then from the base station of that one into the hut (link to the homepage of the hut here https://www.zeppezauerhaus.at/, no English version unfortunately. Nice place, and the hosts are really nice too and friends of mine - whoever might come to Salzburg just has to make a visit... but then, whoever might come to Salzburg has to contact me anyway and I´ll bring you up there and buy you a meal! ;) :smlling-eyes )

Ah, yes, "what Spyderco is in my pocket today" :')

It is the FRN Chaparral: Such a great and sturdy little work knife, for jobs like that where one has to do cuts quite frequently, but not actually cutting tasks continuously over long periods of time.
